becasue it furthers your own belief in going to heaven?
Is it true you try to do good deeds for the same reason?
Is it true that everything you do is selfish as it is to further your own deluded belief in an afterlife?

Yes that is true but it's a little different than that.
They do it because of what their bible says.
They do it because the church tells them to.
The church needs new members.
They need your money!

I used to be a Catholic which is also classified as "Christian".No I didnt spread the word of Jesus or anyone else for that matter. No one asked me to nor was it incouraged.
I have been one of Jehovahs Witnesses for ten years now.I thank Jehovah every day for this wonderful priviledge.
I share the good news of God's Kingdom with others, not because of what I can get out of Jehovah, but love compels me to.Love of God and love of neighbour. If someone had not shared this wonderful information with me I would still be in spiritual darkness, taking drugs to numb the void and pain in my empty life.
So in answer to your question, again I say - NO.There is nothing selfish about spending my own time and petrol and resources going door to door in the heat, the cold to talk to strangers who on the most part dont want to listen and just want to abuse me!
But I continue to do untell my God,Jehovah tells me to stop - Matt.24:24:"This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."

Christians aren't supposed to "spread the word." Christians should live their lives in a way that is pleasing to God, as an example to the world; just as the Nation of Isreal was supposed to do. Christians can provide answers to those who are seeking God, but we are not to force christianity on anyone. Furthermore, there is no scripture to support the idea of "going to heaven." Jesus will establish God's kingdom here on Earth.

Christians are not saved, based upon their "good deeds." God says our good deeds are like dirty rags, because our motives are suspect. We are therefore saved, based on what Jesus did on the cross. We are saved by GRACE, that no man can boast about his (or her) good works, (Ephesians 2:8-9).

There is nothing christians can do to guarantee salvation, other than accept Jesus as our savior, (Romans 5:9-10). Our good works are then generated from His spirit in us. Most people don't study the Bible, so they don't know the truth. They are therefore confused in their thinking, just as you are.

Look, I wish you would write this down. "We" Born-again Christians love to spread the Saving Grace of Jesus, because we do not want anyone to go to Hell, if we can Help it.>>>>> What furthers our belief in going to Heaven is Reading God's Word. (He cannot Lie) As far as your "Good Deeds theory" >>>God says "they stink like filthy Rags in His Nostrils." >>>IN SHORT, I Can see you do not know a "genuine" Born-again Christian, or You Would not be in rebellion. ( God Removes those worldly, selfish traits from within us.) We Are Not Perfect, But Forgiven. That's How we "know" we are spending eternity in Heaven.

NO, nothing we do can pay the price for what Jesus did for us on the cross

the bible says go out & make fishers of men, so that is why we tell others about Jesus, in the hopes
that they will come to Christ too ( repent & be born again ) we are told to do this .

take care

I can only speak for me. I do the "good deeds" because I know they are pleasing to the One that I love. Just as I do good things for my wife and children because I love them, so I do good deeds for the Lord I love. Not out of selfishness, but out of a desire to please and honor Him.

If there are rewards that follow those deeds, such as heaven, then that is a bonus. And I will gladly take it. But it is not my motive for serving God.

I find it interesting how they go around telling everyone how they're going to pray for them in one breath, and in the next breath talk about how happy they are that nonbelievers will be in hell forever.

I can think of lots of reasons why they ought to just leave the rest of us alone ...

-- Jesus said judge not, lest ye be judged.
-- Jesus wondered why we notice the speck in our neighbor's eye but ignore the plank in our own.
-- Jesus said not to make a public spectacle of your beliefs ... that it's better to go to a private place and pray.
-- Jesus said that not all who say to him "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom.
-- And the one that gets me the most ... Jesus said that if a people will not accept you and your teachings, leave that place and shake the dust from your sandals. Yet his followers keep hanging around and badgering people who would rather be left alone, because we need to be told about "the truth," as if we don't already know the whole story. And they'll pray for you, of course.

Partly because of obedience. Mostly because of gratitude. As a Christian, I am not obligated to do anything. Eternal life is mine already. But I am motivated by love to do as much as I can to love God and love people.

we spread the word of God not for selfish reasons but so that other people may more know about him-that he's not just a kind God but a loving and merciful father.

Too undesirable which you have no longer examine the e book of the Acts of the Holy Spirit. Saul had his own come across with Jesus Christ on the line to Damascus and then spent countless years learning all of those issues from Christ till now beginning his ministry. don't get all hepped up over "secret" teachings. Christ defined what the "secret" substitute into all approximately.
