Jesus said "let the one who is free of sin cast the first stone". So if everyone is born a sinner why are so many Christians throwing stones at other people?

As one moves through the Sign, one recites, at the forehead, “Lord “; at the stomach, “Jesus Christ”, on the right shoulder, “Son of God”; and on the left shoulder, “have mercy on us” followed by a bow(to the ground during great lent).

Joining two fingers together-the index and the middle finger-and extending them, with the middle finger slightly bent, represents the two natures of Christ: His Divinity and His Humanity. He is God according to His divinity and Man according to His hummanity, perfect in both natures. The index finger represents His divinity, while the middle finger repersents His hummanity, since He came down from on high and saved those below. The bending of the middle finger is interperted to mean that He bowed the heavens and came down upon the earth for our salvation.

And thus it proper to make the Sign of the Cross and to bless; thus was it laid down and ordained by the holy fathers; such is the power of the Sign of the Cross, with which we faithful sign ourselves when we pray, confessing sacramentally the Saviour’s economy: His being begotten of God the Father before all creation; His decent to earth from on high; His Crucifixion; and His second coming, which is the sealing of His entire philanthropic dipensation concerning us.

The sign of the cross must be made according to the rules, in the form of a cross; and the right hand, that is, the dextral hand, must be used in crossing oneself, with the thumb and the two lower fingers joined together, and the extended index finger joined to the middle finger, slightly bent; thus should prelates [and] priests give their blessing and thus should men cross themselves. . . . It befits all Orthodox Christians to hold their hand thus, and to make the sign of the cross upon their face with two fingers, and to bow, as we said before. If anyone should fail to give his blessing with two fingers, as Christ did, or should fail to make the sign of the cross with two fingers, may he be accursed.. . ., Chapter 31 of The Council Of The Hundred Chapters.

Why do people on here answer questions that they have no idea what the true answer really is? Are they not defeating the purpose of this Yahoo Answers? I think too many people are using this as a chat room. Hey everyone...Yahoo does have chat rooms. Try those for chatting.

Why do Christians spend their time reading the OT? don't you guys have the NT (which I think is more cleaner)?

70% of the OT is the God of Israel killing people especially the Egyptians. OK since I'm a Wiccan, maybe I don't know every thing of the Christian belief, so do you guys have to read the OT.

That God in the OT is so mean and violent, that's where Christians probably learnt their violent acts. The Old Testament should be banned. A very violent guy! So what happens to the story? did the OT God die? I really love the NT God, I wish he lived throughout the end, I think he died too.

Jews claim that the Muslims God (Allah) is the same as their God. That even makes the OT God the most violent ever!!!

How would you react if you saw a person yelling at the top of his lungs that Gods do not exist? I constantly see Christian preachers in the streets of Big cities yelling out bible verses. What kind of reaction do you think an Atheist would get if they did the same thing but with a reverse message?

We go on and on, being religious....
but we forget we have been quite intolerent of other religions than our own? why is that? arent we supposed to treat everyone equally? because i was tought that everyone is equal in the eyes of the lord and savior...was i tought wrong?

i want to know why a group of people who dont worship what we worship, suddenly become "non-belivers"....true they dont believe in our god...but they believe in their god (i see a thing here.....the romans might have pondered the same thing when christianity was emerging)

AND why is everyone elses religion automatically wrong, and ours is right?

hinduisim is considered the oldest still practiced religion to this day...older that christianity....could it no t be the true religion.....
or greek religion
or roman?

i believe in our god the lord and savior maker of the heaven and earth and the father almighty....
but i just want to hear some opnions...

what are your views on abortion?

mine: once it's got a brain, it's a living being. up until that point though, it's just a bundle of cells and therefore, it's not possible to "harm" it. oh, and abortion as birth control (as in, if you're too stupid to use a condom) is never ok, imo.

A Theist is defind as being theism in the Yahoo on line dictionary. and theism is defined as : Belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in a personal God as creator and ruler of the world.

An atheist as a noun or name is defined as One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.

In this section these are many who say they are Atheists who take the position that there is no god. Same spelling and same letters for A theist and an Atheist. The only difference is the blank space.

I just wonder why anyone would put so much importance on the blank space. So much in fact that it is in the opposite position. Is if a fact that blank spaces do say a lot more than words themselves in the English language? Maybe that blank space represents great wisdom in ones view. Now how can one prove that fact?

If this be true, should not the balnk spaces be studied more? Maybe more should just say blank spaces in their words and spend more time in thought?

Why do people worship a God who would kill millions who do not follow him, with floods or fire rained down from above, but those same people will cry ‘Madman’ when a country's leader eliminates millions when it's apart of their plan?

I grew up catholic. I don't attend church at the moment but believe in God and heaven.

My boyfriend of one year believes that there is no life beyond death. He says when we die we just disapear and that's that.

I know I'm not overly religious but he tells me that a lot and talks about science and evolotion and all that kind of stuff.

Now I don't know what to believe

Is it possible that you are encouraged to bear your testimony so that you can convince yourself of the truths you claim? Is there really a purpose or benefit for other people to hear it (Other than to feel inadequate because obviously theirs is not as strong as yours)?

I have overprotective parents. They hesitate to let me do anything that they consider "unsafe" or "dangerous". I wonder if other kids who don't have overprotective parents are better off than I am, experience-wise and anything in general.

I'd like to know your thoughts/opinions.
