When I watch TV after a bomb scare or act of terrorism/hostage taking, why does no representative of the muslim faith not IMMEDIATELY condem the actions. You never see an imam on the tv criticising it, but when you criticise islam, they say 'this is against the teachings of Islam'. So why dont they criticise, are their arms being twisted.

Ps. does Islam have a heirachal structure to their religion e.g. pope, can anyone be a imam.

pps forgiveness for any spelling mistakes.

Just because your religion is big or has an almighty God in it doesn't make it right. If you have a Holy Book that's fine but the other guys got one too...if you've never studied another religion or simply not opened to the idea you wouldn't know. If you were borne into it you probably didn't have a choice as a child. Simply saying cause it's the Bible, Torah, Quran, etc. or calling yourselves the Chosen Ones doesn't exactly make it correct...Heck, Jesus is in Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Bahá'í, Mandaean, and other branches, why isn't theirs the right one...so what makes you right and the other guys wrong...?

Hi everyone, thanks for reading my question....

I want my daughter to have the best education on offer, and for her to be aware of a God. I also agree with the moral/ethical values the Catholic churches encourage in our precious children.

I used to be a practising Christian, and for various reasons - I stopped going. So I am agnostic I guess. I have never attended Catholic churches, but rather various others.

When I checked out a local Catholic School, I was very impressed and am strongly 'for' my daughter attending this school. Baptised children are given strong priority, and I don't want to risk my daughter missing out.

So I want to get my daughter Baptised. But I am not a religious person, neither is any of my family whatsoever. Will she be accepted for baptism? What do I say when they ask about her 'Godparents' whom are also not Christians...?

Please give me all the advice you have!

Live and Let Live is the core principle of a religion that practices Ahimsa (nonviolence).
How far do we practice it in our relationship with others and the mutes that we slaughter for food? In the present society where most of us MUST DEVIATE from morals to live a normal life, how relevant is this message in our daily life?

Correct me if I say that this message belongs to JAINISAM, an Indian originated religion that follows high values and principles in life.

Don't you agree that this would be a much better world to live in if we all practiced being better human beings rather than good Christians, devoted Muslims, and holy Catholics?

Which two books of the Bible said that the ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains, thousands of years before modern science discovered the fact?

"Then the channels of the sea were seen, the foundations of the world were uncovered, at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils."

"I went down to the moorings of the mountains; the earth with its bars closed behind me forever; yet you have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God."

Which book of the Bible said that the earth was a sphere, thousands of years before modern science discovered the fact?

"It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in."

My wife's friend invited her to a party for women only, no men are welcome. It's not a bridal shower or an intimate gathering of close friends; it's just a party. Do you think it's rude to exclude husbands?

Now, I'm not trying to advocate bad behavior for atheists, but...

Why do some of you, when criticized about being unforgiving, judgmental, and generally unChristian, criticize atheists in turn? Do you not realize that atheists do not adhere to the Bible as you do? Why do you think they would be bound by the same rules?

When you respond to criticism with, "Well, you're just as bad," you're only making yourselves seem worse. That is not the "Jesus approach," so to speak, nor is it any sort of justification for behavior.

And there's a good point...

What another does should not be justification for what you do, regardless of whether you are Christian or not. However, when Christianity is added to the equation, are you not supposed to be the ones who bring truth and light and love and healing? How can you accomplish this when you engage in the same game you believe the atheists are playing?

This is not level ground. You are supposed to be the exception, not the rule.

This is mostly aimed at Christians, but anyone is free to answer. :)

Let's say you have a grown up son. He is smart, successful, and kind, and you are very proud of him. One day, he comes home for a visit, bringing another man with him. "Mom, dad," he says, "This is Gary. He's my life partner. We're going to Massachusetts to get married next month."

Your son considers his homosexuality to be a natural, biological thing. He doesn't see it as sin, no matter what you say, and he refuses to think that he needs to or can be "cured". Your son is gay, and there is nothing you can do about it.

What would you do?
