I know that Islam is not one church like Catholicism,but would not getting all the major groups together toissue fatwas condeming murder and suicide in the name of Islam,diologue rather than war among Islamic groups,advocacy of freedom of religion,dialogue with the modern world,etcbe good for Islam and the world?

Caliphate.
Take time to study Islam. The goal of Jihadists is to take over the world and establish an Islamic Caliphate to rule it. Do a word search for the infamous historical doctrine of "House of Islam and House of War". Its essentially what we call "Jihad" today, but back then, it almost succeeded in taking over the world and was the fuel for three Islamic empires.
If your implying that a single Islamic authority would be good, I can only assume you know little about Islam. First, the idea of Muslims ever agreeing on a single acceptable authority is insane. The sectarian divisions are impossible to overcome, they are so deep that concession on one side would be equivalent to accepting the jews. In fact, many Sunnis consider the Shia worse than Jews, and we all know how intensely Muslims hate Jews (see PEW poll data).
Second, even if unity could be achieved in todays sectarian Islam, this would only mean more intense war with the infidels, if not victory for Islam and defeat for humanity, or the human species.Their division is one of the few buffers humanity has against the worlds most horrif belief.
I hope none of this seems condescending to you. Suppose your a vetran mechanic...how do you address someone who doesnt know how to change the oil? Study Islam...notice Im not even giving you websites...Im actually just telling you to study it, because my experience is that all the apologist for islam...alllll of them...havent studied it.
