Live and Let Live is the core principle of a religion that practices Ahimsa (nonviolence).
How far do we practice it in our relationship with others and the mutes that we slaughter for food? In the present society where most of us MUST DEVIATE from morals to live a normal life, how relevant is this message in our daily life?

Correct me if I say that this message belongs to JAINISAM, an Indian originated religion that follows high values and principles in life.

It is the order of nature that things must live at the cost of others and it is happenig in our daily life . The close equivalent of this in modern theory is the survival of the fittest .the spirit of competition is natually ibherent in all living beings .man is nt an exception.but as oranized society grew up to infuse confidence in its members , the severity of the competition to grab whatever is available has lessend a little and humanity has developed an attitude to think of the welfare of others also to some extent .The animal character of competiting tograb the food for oneself withut concern for the oehres has leesend a little .Still essentiall people are selfish . No ody is willing to sacrifice his food/ wealth for others , except for his / her own progeny.in a few cases .Even the most undeserving wants to be recognized as the most superior in every society and humility is lacking . Character has deteriorated to a large extent .
It is a noble ideal tolive and to let live .it is inwords and lettersand people only pretend to be so in public while in private life they are totaly different .the poor man may e willing to forgo his food for otehrrs as he has much little to part with and the rich would not be willing to do so as he will have to part with a large amount .so the basic spirit of selfishness and competition to grab as much as possible for oneself is sillhere in the minds and behaviour of all humans and he priciple of live and let live is practised by a very few when they have nothing much to loose . if he principle is followed by all there would not be a list of richest persons in the world .People are still addicted to accumulation of wealth and are not satidfied with the quantity sufficient for their own survival alone . perhaps tha animals that compete for food are satififes with what they requie for an occasion and leave the rest willingly for others as they know thier limit .But man dose not know his limit .
thosugh the pricnicple may be sacred to theJains , he jains ae jews in hteir behaviour in business.evn with the poorest of humans .
Hardly anybody is an exceotion from selfishness.adn as long as selfishnes is there lLVE alone ia accented and LET LIVE is secondary if you wish or if yu think that it does not matter to do so.

I'm not certain that live and let live is a valid message for humanity.

Moral Question: Your neighbor is raping his 12 year old daughter on a regular basis. Does one intervene or decide instead to live and let live? By the way, there is an interesting moral parallel to Iraq.

Perhaps a better guiding moral principle is to become your brother's keeper which is a principle based on agape love.

There are groups of people, and individuals that do....In a practical sense, we are in the world but not of it, if one is a Christian. Therefore peace is a way of life for those that pursue it...And a learning process....

To judge the world is not necessary. It is judged already....And if you live as the world lives you will reap that reward....

My advice it to seek harmony within yourself and the world as a practical means of survival but work toward enlightenment.

As one gets older, if a measurable difference has occurred in your present life and the questions you pose, then you will tell the difference....It is not easy, but the reward is greater in pursuing life, instead of death....

Peace

"Live and let live"
+ Is a bare minimum for people to exist without violence
+ Does not imply justice, happiness, or peace of mind
+ Implies no assitance when in need, almost "live and let die"
+ Implies no cooperation between people living in any kind of a civilization

"Love your neighbor as yourself"
+ Is a high ideal
+ Implies happiness, justice, and peace of mind for all
+ Demands assistance when in need
+ Demands cooperation to the benefit of all, or the common good

Neither of these adages are truly lived today but the world is a better place just because some people strive to follow them.

With love in Christ.

It is a noble message, but how do we apply it?

Some cultures dont believe in "live and let live", how does a culture that does believe in it, deal with a culture that doesnt?

These are issues with great complexity that cant be solved with simplistic pacifist cliches, as much as we wish they could...and I certainly do wish it.

Try to convice a Jihadist that he shouldnt wage war for Allah, that he should live and let live...if you cant convince him, its not a very practical doctrine is it? Not unless you suicidal.

No we practice die and let live. From the sacrifice of the living (death) comes the continuation of life. Live and let live is a nice principal to live by but ultimately it takes life to continue life.

Take all you can, give nothing back. Do unto others before others can do unto you, then split. Remember the Eleventh Commandment and keep it Wholly: Thou shalt not get caught.

People.
People who eat people,
Are the best fed people

are you kidding, if we did, we would not have any of these wars. They are being perpetrated by those who say they only desire peace or that they are fighting for GOD ..... what a joke these people are.
