With single wing bird can not fly.
Devotion for the sake devotion is an attachment.
Mere devotion is a commitment.
Commitment is a religious zeal which commits you to a monastic order.

Which is that another wing?

In comparison to the repressive-by comparison USA, there's a continent where the sorts of hate-agendas against girls/women with respect to abortion rights, and against gays is virtually nonexistent by comparison. Nudity is no big deal, and there's far less censorship. I wonder if THEY would have been infested with RRR ("Religious" Radical Right) cultists instead of US, if the Puritans had decided NOT to cross the Atlantic. (If so, the best-case scenario probably would have been for their ship to have sunk in the mid-Atlantic, thus sparing BOTH continents from their abject stupidity.)

Europe ALSO has a wondrous and on-time rail system, and satellite phones are commonplace. Phones that are FAR better than the USA's cell phones.

Is the “soul” where your true mind is? Where your true conscience is?

When a man sees a gorgeous woman, he looks, right? The less that she has on, he looks even harder. If thier wife or girlfriend, put on a really short skirt with her boobs hanging out, he would not like that. Yet, a man thinks it is okay to oggle someone else's wife, girlfriend, mother or daughter but would get angry if thier girlfriend or wife does it. Doesn't this seem a bit hypocritical?

I understand that you are bothered by people inposing their religion on you, but about the dollar bill, on which it says "In God We Trust". Why do you want to mess with this simple saying? I can understand taking off things like the "God" part in the pledge allegiance. But when it comes to things with history, why can't you leave it be?

I'm not in anyway saying the bible or science is wrong, i'm not a Christian, i don't really know what i believe, i'm just wondering what Christians think about how old the earth is, because in a bible timeline i looks like maybe it could be around 5000 or 6000 years old, but in school you learn about rocks and other things people discover that are millions of years old. And also i always wondered about how the bible doesn't talk about the dinosaur age, i wondered what peoples opinions are about these things. and evolution, but i guess that it didn't happen, my mom is a Christian, i ask her sometimes but she doesn't say much. Thanks.

I'm talking about something that would be extremely hard for you to do, something you might even actually tell Him no to at first. If you don't want to share the first thing that comes to mind, you can share the next thing.

If you can't think of anything at all, I pray that something comes along, not to make you feel bad or in "dire pain", but that your faith may be tested. It could just be an Abraham experience where God wants to see if you're at least willing to give it up.

When I was at my cousin's graduation party, I was talking to an intersting man. As we were talking, I saw what looked like smoke come out of his mouth. It was too warm to be frosty breath, and he wasn't smoking. It looked smoky but not like dense smoke, and it moved from the region of his mouth, past his cheek and behind him. I would love to know what it was. I have see this happen once before, and I am puzzled by it.

I am just curious if any of you have encountered anything that you would define as a "ghost" or "spirit"?
I know I never have. I think something like that is possible, but highly unlikely. One thing that I could never understand about the "ghost" concept is how they float through walls, but not through floors or the ground. If they are incorporeal, they should be able to float through anything. Anyway, I really am curious about this. Are the religious types the only ones that see ghosts, or am I making a false assumption?

I am alarmed at the scientific illiteracy, arrogance, ignorance and denial from the religious set. With so many thinking from within an insular bubble of ignorance and bigotry, particularly from within the USA, it is a grave threat to world peace. The nightly news makes this clear.

Appart from peace and tollerance, religion, particularly fundy christianity, also threatens the aquisition of knowledge, and attempts to shut down this pursuit with lies, misrepresentaion, and dishonesty.

I think sewing the seed of thought is the best any scientifically literate person could hope to achieve against such a fiercly ignorant and dangerous secular belief system.

I have been forwarding corrections and clarifications of scientific terms and principles, and although they are immediantely denied, it nevertheless offers the "correct" interpretation of science, so that the "enemy" of religious ignorance may be at least represented properly and correctly..

Will you continue to do this too?

Um, if you could you pause tonight (and every night) to give energy through your goodness and ask for renewed health to important persons here in R&S, to your personal deity (or deities) you follow.
DebraM and SusanJ, and all, needs all the goodness and positive thoughts you can spare, (as do ALL who are in hospitals).
If you care but do not follow a path with a deity - you are more than welcome to hope modern medicine can return these caring people to their families and life style soon. Right?

When I see examples of programs for teaching young children what is proper and improper touching, the perpetrator is always a man.

Since boys are more visual in their learning, could the lack of examples using women give them a false impression that only sexual with an adult male in wrong?

Further, is the societal attitude that the boy got LUCKY still prevalent?
