For those who believe that carbon-14 is the only form of radiometric dating, there are also other elements around, such as uranium. We rely on these datings to tell us about the earth and the universe, as the half-life on such more complicated elements has a much greater decay rate, sometimes up to billions of years. This has been completely ignored by the 'Creationist Community'.

Instead of arguing Christ vs. Science, I'm just going to say that Creationists not only choose to ignore the fundamental principles about archeology and radiation, but lie about it too. In fact, they don't just lie about it, but render ignorance to the possibility it isn't essential that the Bible says the earth is only a few thousand years old, but choose that path because its blatant contraditions offer great controversy and attention. In short, lying attention seekers. Anyone out there disagree?

What do you think of excellence from this quote? What does excellence meant to you? (Side Question: Why do kids like Shrek so much? My daughter just fell asleep to it after making me watch it with her! Although Donkey is hilarious)

"He who helpeth his fellow-creature in the hour of need, and he who helpeth the oppressed, him will God help in the Day of Travail.

What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured."

If you didn't want Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons ringing your doorbell and disturbing your morning (or possibly waking up your child during his nap), and if you were to post a small note near your door asking them not to ring your doorbell, what exactly would you write? You're not required to be courteous in the note so if you'd rather be abrupt than tactful, go for it... I'm just trying to get some varying responses.

By the way, I don't know if I'll put something like that in my front doorway, but I'm considering it...

They point out that Christians quote from the Bible. Yet in their hypocrisy they forget their quotes:

A woman can do with her body as she pleases (even to the detriment of a baby)
Evolution is now a scientifically proven Law.
The world is over-populated.
Homosexual acts are natural and without adverse physical effects.

At least think freely and come up with some new ones. While we must accept the Bible by faith, you have to lie to yourself to believe your propaganda. Which is worse?

Christianity = literary astrological hybrid, plagiarized from egyptian/pagan traditions that came long before it.

It's an interesting movie, the only part I have a problem with (as an atheist!) is how it implies a connection between "son of god" and "sun of god", which of course only sound similar in English, a language that wasn't around back then.

Other than that, it makes sense to me.

What do you think?

Why was the whole human race tarred with Sin when Adam made one error?

After all when God (not a power or a force) saw what He had made, it was proclaimed to be "very good "and also in the bible it says "for everything made by God is good"

So He made everything in creation groan for that one act ??

In a previous question I argued that it was impossible to prove that God exists scientifically, therefore Creationism is not science. They came back at me by saying that scientists are interpreting natural causes from the data and Creationists are interpreting Supernatural beings from the data and that creationists have the right to teach their interpretations in public schools. Here is my beef with that statement. There is absolutely nothing that can't possibly be explained by “God did it.” If I throw a baseball through the air, you could interpret that the ball is flying through the air because I put force on the ball. However, you could also interpret this by saying that it did not go flying through the air because I applied force, it went through the air because God did it. Obviously the first interpretation is the more logical one. The same logic applies to evolution. It is always more logical to assume natural causes then supernatural causes

I am quoting from a wonderful answer I had yesterday by 'the real Ed-Mike':

Best Answer - Chosen By You

His name was Yehsuah ibn Yoseph(Romans being the Greekophiles they were Constantine renamed him Jesus during the creation of the Catholic Church) He was a Rabbi(Learned Holy man teacher who studied and taught the Torah) From a well to do family (Joseph his father was a master tradesman carpenter from the house of David i.e. King David) By the way a thirty year old Rabbi is always married. He taught a radically reformed Judaism that challenged the power of The Temple. He empowered the poor and downtrodden and declared wealth to be a hindrance to salvation. His intelligent, compassionate interpretation of the Law was also easy to understand. He spoke in parables that reached the simple as well as the learned.

People go on and on about how bad scientology is and all this other sort of stuff.

Have you ever stopped to think..... hey....even though I think it's weird, my religion sounds just as absurd to other people.

Why is it more acceptable to criticise scientology, where as if you do the same with Christianity people will get angry about it.

ALL religions have things that are hard to believe.

I personally believe if Scientology took place of Christianity ages ago, the majority of people would believe in Scientology and then would be calling Christianity all sorts of names.

I'm not a scientologist, but, It just amazes me how people can be so hypocritical.

Your religion to other people is just as weird as theirs is to you.

What are your thoughts on all this????

While in the past, God was viewed as a mighty male authority figure, some people are changing the idea to make God without gender, age, or distinguishing characteristics. God is less a specific person but every person, much like Ishvara, the infinite personal being of the Dvaita school of thought in Hinduism. I guess the same analogy could be made for Brahman, too, if one has different beliefs.

I'm not at all trying to be facetious, sarcastic, or ignorant. In all honesty, I don't understand why atheists, or any non-Christian ask questions about God when they don't believe in Him. I mean, if you don't, why bother? It seems to me that you could be spending your time doing something else. You know, like the new SunCom commercials. (When you're not worried about your wireless service, you're free to worry about other things.) Same concept. If you're not worried about being Christian, you're free to worry about other things. I mean, honestly, I'm not trying to be funny. It's just if I was atheist, I don't think I would be concerned.

Now, I do understand if you're trying to get us to listen to reason and show us that you think we're brainwashed. If you're doing that, I appreciate you all caring for our well-being. I really do. It shows there are in fact people in this world who do care. If true, then continue asking. Thanks for your concern.
