People go on and on about how bad scientology is and all this other sort of stuff.

Have you ever stopped to think..... hey....even though I think it's weird, my religion sounds just as absurd to other people.

Why is it more acceptable to criticise scientology, where as if you do the same with Christianity people will get angry about it.

ALL religions have things that are hard to believe.

I personally believe if Scientology took place of Christianity ages ago, the majority of people would believe in Scientology and then would be calling Christianity all sorts of names.

I'm not a scientologist, but, It just amazes me how people can be so hypocritical.

Your religion to other people is just as weird as theirs is to you.

What are your thoughts on all this????

I'm an atheist so I don't adhere to any religion. I "pick on" Scientology only in that I reveal the truth. Scientology is a dangerous, manipulative, greedy, lying, scamming, brainwashing cult. This assertion is backed up by facts. Plenty of people have been harmed by Scientology. Thankfully I've been fortunate enough to never confront the organization directly. There have been a number of people who have had very bad experiences during their involvement with Scientology. Read about them here:

Here are more "bad experiences" with the cult including an illegal plot to infiltrate the government, brainwashing techniques, mind control camps, attacks on critics, and DEATHS caused by Scientology doctrine and members:

• Operation Snow White – Under this official program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

• Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
The official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html

• Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”
http://www.xenu.net/archive/disk/fairgame.htm

• Physical & psychological punishment: Scientologists who "break the rules" while members of the "Sea Org" must subject themselves to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), which includes regimes of harsh physical punishment, forced self-confessions, social isolation, hard labor and intensive ideological indoctrination.

• Brainwashing & mind control: Scientology exerts control over its members by means of typical cult tactics, including but not limited to controlling information about internal doctrine & criticism of the organization, severely restricting social contact outside the cult (including the practice of “disconnecting” with any family who question the credibility & trustworthiness of the cult), creating an “us against them” mentality by villainizing a specific out-group (for Scientology, it’s psychiatrists), & claiming all those outside the cult are unenlightened.

• Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

You are right that all belief systems based on supernatural explanations are equally illogical.

You're wrong about everything else though. Anyone who is not critical of Scientology obviously doesn't understand it very clearly.

Look into it. See how transparent its belief system is. Observe the degree of control exercised on its adherents. Find out how much it costs to advance through its ranks. Explore the level of infallibility they have for their Great Leader. Try to understand why they deliberately target wealthy and influential people. I'm not even touching on some of the more provocative elements of this cult.

Finally, when you're all through with that list, examine the medical and scientific claims they make.

There are thousands of different so called relgions. What is the bottom line, power, control and money. Many believe believe right, wrong or indifferent. A number of individuals have shown that the Church's "millions" is just another fabrication (to borrow a phrase from the South African embassy). It is difficult to estimate the true number of Scientologists, but current membership is probably 100,000 or less, worldwide. What's the quote , you can foll some of the people all of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Check membership in all these regions that's what they believe. fact is all these man made relgions get down to one thing, control and money.

There is nothing sacred or holy about Scientology. It was made up by a mere man who is dead now, and took way too many drugs and charged way too much money from the blinded people.

I think Heaven's Gates got their ideas from him.
Believing in our Lord and Savior is not weird. Even Jesus had a few words to say to the Pharisees and the Sadducees. Was He intolerant for doing this?

I think you have a very valid point. I am a Christian and I have a couple Jewish friends who have made similar statements to me about certain Christian teachings.

That being said, I have a real issue with certain Scientologists (who will remain unnamed) speaking out about the use of anti-depressants. I don't think I would be here today if not for the medication I was prescribed 10 years ago so that really hits a nerve with me.

Yeah, I agree.
Except scientology DOES have some kind of weird things... aliens? People blowing up and sticking to someone else and brainwashing them? Showing videos to make people believe in religions like Christianity and whatnot?

Kinda weird. Though I'll admit, Jesus being nailed to a cross and coming back to life is kind of messed up too.

Ugh. I think all religions are just full of it. That's why I'm agnostic, hoorah!

Scientology is something new. Some people are afraid of changes especially religious wise. I am a christian, but that doesn't give me a right to put down someone else's beliefs. I cannot make someone believe what i believe, everyone has their own perspective on religion.

Correction, if Scientology took place of Christianity ages ago, we would all be a lot more advanced in education, technology, and there would be a lot more not-dead pagans. Hail Satan!

So, what are the chances of unearthing an e-meter from prehistoric times...? It is a modern religion; it has yet to stand the test of time. I'm sure Christianity was labelled weird in Paul's time.

All religions are wacky... but scientology is a ruthless business - they charge hundreds of thousands for their 'materials' and sue people who distribute or discuss them.
