Good question. You have to understand that many Jews do have light skin and even some have light brown hair. There are some that have dark hair with dark eyes too. Some with dark skin as well. I believe that Jesus (Yeshua) did have a long beard and who knows what color His skin could be, does it really matter how he looked? What matters is that Yeshua is Messiah the Blessed One.

No one knows what he looked like but the Italian artist were very popular in their depictions. They made him look Italian. I guess the Pope didn't notice or care about the ofdity of it. As i recall, Jesus said that long hair on a man was disgraceful but look at those depictions.
While I am at it, those artist's depictions od angles is even more off the mark! Angles have no corporal existence and therefore cannot be seen. Angle are completely separate from humans.

it's misconception so i dont wanna hear anybody goin off into some white power rant. Those portraits of Jesus ur talking about were by Rembrandt and Michaelangelo, these people were white and probably some what racist so they portrayed Jesus as white and blonde. if you've seen Passion of the Christ Jesus is portrayed as a Dark and dark haired person

Jesus is potrayed as you say because to do otherwise would be offensive to western caucasian sensibilities.
Basically the powers that be wouldn't allow a black Jesus.

Because most modern depictions of Jesus were first created around the middle ages by artists who painted him as they saw those around them.
