As a born again christian, I am alarmed at the HPV vaccine.

Last year, science came up with a way to greatly reduce cervical cancer in young women. It's a vaccine that prevents women from getting HPV, which is a sexually transmitted disease that acts as a gateway to the cancer. And the vaccine is so effective, it could wipe out HPV.

Christian parent groups and churches nationwide have said that providing a jab to protect against a sexually transmitted infection young women might encourage promiscuity. Bridget Maher of the Family Research Council says giving girls the vaccine is bad, because the girls "may see it as a license to engage in premarital sex."

Let me illustrate why these good people are right.

Recently my neighbours´son got a jab against hepatitis A food poisoning. Then I saw him eating stale jelly donuts from the gas station. He said that now he had a licence to eat disgusting food.

Who else thinks that young women should not be given the HPV vaccine?

To put it in Biblical terms, I have been "measured in the balance and found wanting." How depressing. How can you get any lower than being blown off by Jesus? I think I'll ask if Satan is free...

I know i am going to get a lot of non-answers for this one, but I'll ask anyway because i want people to really think about this.

Why are you a member of your religion?

Do you simply believe what your parents believe because they told you to? Did you do any research into other religions, or even into your own for that matter? Is it a matter of tradition, blind faith, or actual logical consideration? I'll be the first to admit i have not done much research myself, but it is something i intend to do. Hopefully i worded this question correctly, its hard to put to words what i actually mean.

You have 8 minutes till the light goes out and less than a hour before the shock wave hits the planet and makes it explode!

What will you do?

How many Atheist will rethink their lives?

How many pagans will remain firm?

If it happened today I'd hug my family till the end!

I don't think that there is anything happening in the world right now that could make one conclude that we are seeing the prophecies described in Revelations amd other books playing out.

One could look at any period in history and see things that could look like prophecy unfolding. That's why there have always been people who think we are living in the final days, or that Christ's return is iminent.

So my question is: what would have to happen that would make you think that end time prophecy is unfolding? What global events? What things in the news would you have to see to make you believe this is all happening?

And if you are one who thinks that we are in the end time right now, then what do you see happening right now that makes you think this?

Thanks.

It would seem people who would want you to be tolerent of their ideas would be tolerent of your ideas as well, but thats not the case. The word bigot means someone who has strong opinions on politics religion and ethnicity.
although I don't have a racial bone in my body and love all races I must admit I do have strong opinions on politics and religion as apparantly everyone else in this answers group so I guess we are all 2/3 bigots. My last question was pertanent to the heart of religion. some answered with quotes like love thy neigbor which has nothing to do with the question. Also have you noticed how top contributors in religion avoid answering unpopular serious questions that may cost them support?

But what I'm wondering is not about the bloodshed, but about the supposed love? Can anyone give examples of Old Testament grand, amazing acts of love from the god?

Lets leave Jesus and the NT out of this as I know what you'll say. I genuinely would like examples of this god's love as compared to the frequent acts of his wrath. And creation doesn't count! That doesn't even show love, just an experiment.
