I'm going to be a Movie Star!

I just got this email -

I just read on an AOL headline, scanned thru because I did not like what it was called..the "Godless Coin"
which naturally means, the words "In God We Trust" is not on the coin at all. As far as I am concerned, I will not accept this coin and I feel we should all do the same thing.
I refuse to let this little group of "Twerps" for a better word tell me and my country what to do. Our Freedoms are leaving us everyone and I for one do not like it. We must fight back any way we can.
It's an unfortunate situation, we let "these" other people come to OUR COUNTRY, and they are telling us what to do, but what bothers me more is that we are cowering down instead of standing up for our beliefs.

Should people be ticked off over this?

I see it all the time, not just my questions but in almost everyones questions. For example some one using T A as a name asked why i wasn't religious but left me no way to explain, so why bother! I like to communicate as well as read!
So I guess this question is to those of you out there that are afraid of communication!

i dont understand this. people tell me [on here and in real life] that i'm a hypocrite i cant be both. but here's the twist, when you say that then you are judging me arent you??? the Bible says not to judge, i try mybest to not judge anyone that goes for people who abort, so who are you to judge me for supporting someone's rights??? i want to hear your opinion but to be honest you can judge me all you want cause what matters to me is God's opinion. i know some of you will say well if that's true why are you pro-choice than..lol.

I hope I don't offend anyone for being an Aussie commenting on American religious politics, but isn't it contradictory that it is a cornerstone of American policy overseas to promote secular government(Particularly in the middle east) while fashioning domestic policy in line with a purely religious perspective? There are many examples I could choose from, but I will cite only one: Gay marriage.

The opposition to gay marriage is one-hundred percent religion-based. There is no legal justification for opposing it, yet the government opposes it on this very basis.

Christians, how do you justify this contradiction? Before you answer, imagine for a second if you happened to live in a state where religious beliefs you didn't agree with national policy. It appears that America can decry the Taliban, yet see no hypocrisy in "faith-based initiatives", keeping God in the Pledge of Allegiance, refusing HIV assistance to those countries who do not accept the abstinence agenda, etc.

The one thing we would all agree on is that morality is about how individuals behave towards other individuals, and the consequences of that behaviour for each person. Christianity (as an example) tells us that only one god exists, and that he existed alone for all eternity until he decided that he needed to make some humans to love and worship him. Now, how would such an entity ever come up with ideas about how to interact with other individuals, if there is only one of him? How could he be the origin of moral views about relationships if he never had a relationship? How could he be the origin of rules about theft if he never lived in a society, or about how to interact with parents if he never had any? If you try to ascribe the origin of morality to a creator god then you end up at a loss to explain where it came from in the first place. The idea is clearly nonsense.

i'm just curious bcos, sometimes i see very good questions, sinking in to the sea of resolved questions without a single star..then again,there are totally dumb questions, which hardly deserve it, getting 10-12 stars..so do you give 'em a star when:
i)you find the question very interesting or differnt?
ii)the question is asked by one of your contacts?
iii)the person actually asks you to star the question?
iv)or do you just like the star to be yellow and not a transparent silvery-blue?

I am an ex-Jehovah's witness.

My reasons for leaving their religious organization were myriad, but to encapsulate, I learned that they were in the "business" of speaking for God rather than the reality of it. This was demonstrated by issues coming to NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION.

Beyond doctrinal errors and inconsistencies, there are LIFE AND DEATH ISSUES of INVALID DOCTRINE ABOUT REFUSAL OF BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS and SHIELDING OF MOLESTERS WHILE PUNISHING THE VICTIMS.

These are horrendous acts. To confront them in an innocuous manner can be challenging because of the emotions on all sides.

Some of us have had questions removed because of the wording. We should be careful to focus on issues rather than personalities.

The facts will speak for themselves.

If this community's managers delete a thread because of facts alone, I will report them to the highest possible levels.

Can we continue the debate?

My boss's birthday is on July 4th. She is the worst person in the world. If you've ever seen Devil Wears Prada, she is like the character of Meryl Streep, except my boss is 10 times worse than her and my boss have no fashion sense whatsoever. My boss is cheap, mean, ugly and overall not a good person. Am I still obligated to get her a gift or a card? The last two years I've been her assistant, she's never given me anything for my birthday. I've never even had a raise. She's made me cry several times when she yells and makes me feel stupid. Most times I come home depressed.

My girlfriend and I have 2 wonderful children and are openly out. We have found that being open about who we are and what we are, people are wonderful about it. We live in a strong ,religious, country community. If you try to hide it, that is when they become a upset about it. We are trying to show others that gay and lesbian families are just like straight families. How many others on here are like us?????
