If so, how many of them are recycled?

As anyone who cares about the earth and it's renewable resources, all Watchtowers and Awake magazines are recyclable after being read. It isn't litter to leave them where people can and DO read them.

Sadly, it seems that some who accept the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses do not use it respectfully or discard it responsibly, at least in the neighborhood of this questioner.
Because all the literature is distributed without charge, and because there are no advertising circulations to maintain, there is no incentive for Jehovah's Witnesses themselves to irresponsibly condone the misuse of their bible-based publications.
Branch offices of Jehovah's Witnesses print The Watchtower according to actual orders from other branches, congregations, and individuals. Damaged magazines and press overruns of excess magazines are 100% recycled by the various printeries around the world.

Yes, they are recyclable in several ways. The best way is to take the time to read it and recycle it into your brain. Of course this takes looking up the scripture in your own bible and at least thinking about them, and seeing if you can find for yourself the meaning it holds.
The other way some people recycle them is to throw them into the trash. Honest hearted and humble ones have actually found them and read them and are now Witnesses. The articles actually have reports of many instances of this happening, if you read them.
I would not define them as litter, I would define them as life-saving, much like a pace maker when a persons heart refuses to function on its own. Kind hearted people who care about you spend their time, gas, and energy searching for someone who will take the time to listen, thats all they ask. Over 7 million worldwide are doing this because they care about you, and are following Jehovah God's instruction to be fishers of men and make disciples of men, by his direction this work is being carried out in over 230 lands at this very moment.
Jehovah always sent his prophets out to warn people before he acted in any way. Think about Noah, he listened and because he did only 8 souls, members of his family and their marriage mates were saved through the flood. Because of him you and I exist, and have the opportunity to learn about what God requires and how we too can have this opportunity for everlasting life. It means your life, not all calling on him saying lord, lord will be saved. His reply was I never knew you.
Do you know him? Take the time and you will never regret it because it can only make your life better and I speak from experience.
