i tihnkt hat it is possible to be pro-choicce and catholic for the simple fact that i dont judge others, second God is our Father, He understand us in a way that others dont, he understand all of our circumstances including the reason for an abortion. if you say it's ok to abort when the mother's life is in stake but not for other reasons i tihnk that's hypocritical! it's like saying one "muder" is better than another one.

It is true we shouldn't judge. I think you can be both ways. Abortion is a personal choice as well as a right that women have. You are correct..who are we to judge someone else. Gods opinion is the only opinion that truly matters. Your opinion of yourself matters as well.

You’re misunderstanding that act of judging someone.

Clearly, we all know that none of us has the right to judge the righteousness or wickedness of another person’s soul. Only God can do that. He is the final Judge.

However, we do have the right and common sense to judge the rightness or wrongness of an action or belief. If a person commits murder, obviously we are able to judge the action – murder – as wrong. We, however, cannot judge the person. Their soul is between them and God.

Abortion is an action. It is the willful, intentional destruction of a human life. Murder is the same thing. Therefore, when we look at abortion, we have the right to call it what it is and judge it accordingly – a wicked, sinful act. Support of abortion is a wicked, sinful act the same as support of murder is wicked and sinful.

Now, we do not have the right to judge the person committing the act. Their conscious is between them and God, no different than the serial killer who killed 20 people.

God bless.

A lot of things that people say, do and think are "unChristian". For instance in your case, believing that abortion is an OK thing to do is unChristian.
Basically what it boils down to is if you believe in Christ. Do you accept that He is the messiah? Do you believe in the resurrection? Do you believe that He will come again? If yes, than you are Christian.
To believe that abortion is OK, to believe that it is not wrong, and that it has no moral implications is either sinful denial or being naive. You should learn more about what abortion actually is, how it works and also learn more about embryonic and fetal development. The growth of an unborn baby should not really be a deciding factor whether abortion is OK or not...but it may help you realize what an abortion is actually doing, what (who) it is actually ending (killing). It may give you an appreciation for unborn human life.
As for the people calling you a hypocrite, they aren't judging you. They aren't saying you'll go to hell, they aren't saying you're a bad person, they aren't making judgements. They are just stating what they see or what they believe to see...a person claiming to be one thing but thinking, doing, saying things that go against that.
You can go to wikipedia and research abortion. Its a neutral website and will lay it out for you pretty clearly.

As for myself I am a Christian. I am against abortion. But I also am neutral with the legality of abortion. The reason being that a woman who wants to have one will do it whether its legal or not. And when its not legal is where health concerns and the inability to control it to some degree. I personally think that its a moral issue and it is up to the woman and her moral conscience to make that choice. I also feel that society pressures women into feeling that abortion is their best (if not only) option. I know this from friends that have had the procedure done.

As a Catholic (which I am) you are going against the Church's beliefs on life. Hence the calling you a hypocrite. Technically being Catholic means accepting all of the church's beliefs even if you dont' believe them.

With that said, I am Catholic, and do not believe all the things the church says, there fore, I am also a hypocrite. And I am okay with this, because like you have said God's judgement is the only one that truly matters.

As for the abortion issue, I like to handle it like this. Abortion is murder yes, and I believe this. However I am pro-choice. I think women should have to opportunity to choose to have an abortion instead of going into some dark alley with a coat hanger, because it's safer for women to continue to have legal abortions. However, I feel that women should CHOOSE to NOT have an abortion. I am not for abortion by any means, however I am for the choice, because of the consequences. If that makes me a bad person, a bad Christian so be it. I don't support the act, I support the legality of it, so that more women aren't dying because there is no respect for life.

A person needs to have respect for all life that God created, and a Christian or follower of Jesus Christ says I want to do what Jesus Christ would do in my life. First and foremost abortion would not be an issue if people lived moral lives as much, and males are just as responsible as females also and just as immoral, but the Bible also teaches adulterers and fornicators shall not enter the kingdom of heaven and yet many many so called Christians ignore this fact the Bible says this. My personal belief is that if a person kills a baby before it has been born, then they have truly murdered a person so that it is not possible to make it into heaven before that baby has taken it's first breath and became a living soul, because Souls are what go to heaven.
I am not against a woman having an abortion for rape or molesting but I would not do it if you asked me my opinion.
I imagine the emotional scares would never go away for that woman and men cannot understand this.

For this as for any other moral matter, you must search both your heart and the Scriptures.

In this case, you must decide upon completion of said search when the ensoulment of a human being is encompassed by God.

Personally I have always considered that the first moment there is a brand new human being is when this event occurs. That moment in time comes when the meiotic dance is completed and the polar body has been cast off. The remaining cell is genetically identical to the whole human being it will grow into and can therefore be biologically considered a human being. And that's when God gives it a soul. If you deliberately end that life, (except in the extreme cases of say, tubal pregnancies), you have committed cold-blooded, calculated, premeditated murder; the same as if you shot a 2-year old, drowned a 12-year old or strangled a 21-year old.

If you're a Christian and you know your biology and your genetics you may be pro-choice, but only insofar as you make it possible for a female who does not want a child to be able to prevent a pregnancy in the first place. NOT by killing the child once it is conceived. That's not pro-choice, that's anti-life! And therefore anti-Christ.

Technically, of course, you are certainly still Catholic regardless of your pro-choice stance.

You do know, however, what the Church teaches on this; it's quite clear. You are free to agree or disagree with it, but don't in the same breath hold yourself up as faithful to your Church -- because in this matter you are not, in fact your position is completely in opposition to the Church. That's where much of the accusation of hypocrisy may be coming from.

You and I have locked horns before on pro-choice, although not once have I brought your Catholicism into any response I've made. But since you brought it up here, I must tell you that if you debate pro-life vs. pro-choice and yet cry foul when your faithfulness to the Church is questioned -- as in, "how can you call yourself a Catholic when ...", then you need to grow a thicker skin, because it's going to happen.

It's not "judging" when someone questions you for claiming a church on one hand but opposing what it teaches on the other. In this sense those who tell you that you can't have it both ways are not incorrect.

It is not impossible to be a Christian and pro-choice. It is your decision, obviously. I'm sure there are many Christians who share your feelings.
However, that does not change the fact that abortion is clearly wrong. If what matters to you is God's opinion, then I don't know how you can be pro-choice, unless you see a difference between being pro-choice and pro-abortion. I cannot believe that God would support abortion in any way.

So if you are pro-choice, but you are anti-abortion, then that is a different story. Then it becomes a matter of politics: should we let people choose to kill their babies or not? Should that be a choice that they can make for themselves? I personally see abortion as murder, basically, so I cannot allow for people to make their own choice about murdering innocent children. However, I understand that some people just don't see it that way. To want to be fair and non-judging is not a bad thing, of course--you just need to decide if you want to help be responsible for the consequences of people's choices.

Catholic Doctrine maintains that the Pope is the appointed representative of Jesus Christ on Earth. This is only part of the logical consequences of Apostolic Succession. (Look these things up if you are unfamiliar with them.)

Anyway, the Pope/Papacy has declared for some time that ABORTION IS MURDER! To support Abortion or Free Choice is akin to supporting Hitler and the Holocaust and claiming to be a good Catholic! Hello!

John C. is correct. In Leviticus, God tells Moses what human life is worth in a monetary sense. Babies are worth no money at all until they are at least a month old. Harsh but true. There is a cut and paste answer further down which tows the typical anti-choice line, but is quite mistaken- it claims that there are Biblical references to fetuses being "babies". Not so. In Leviticus, there is a penalty placed against a man who kills a pregnant woman. The death penalty is placed against the man for killing the woman, not the fetus. If a man strikes a pregnant woman and causes a miscarriage, he only pays a small fine.

Sorry, folks. There is nothing in the Bible to denounce abortion. It's just a platform harped upon by people who haven't studied embryology and an off-shoot of the war against contraception.

I kind of understand how you feel becauw for a while i was judged by christians because I'm into Heavy Metal so naturally the church thinks it's like Satan's music and stuff. Best advice for that is just let it roll off and don't worry about it. Because yes you are right Christians are supposed to love another as they love God. Sad to say we are all human so we can't be like him, at least not yet. I'm not judging you because you have your beliefs and i respect that personally I am pro-life because I believe no one should do the act unless they are married and ready but what about raped victims you're wondering right? Wouldn't you want to give that child a fighting chance in the world? You don't even have to keep it but at least let it live and get a chance to be adopted by a real family? That's my view but I'm not a girl haha so I don't understand some stuff I guess. Hope I helped.
