I'm trying to find a prayer/saying about dealing with a horrible mother-in-law. Something that i can hang up and read when she calls, to get me through it.

Get a callerID and don't answer the phone. Best solution.

I used to have one of those monster-in-laws. Get rid of the husband and the monster-in-laws went away. Voila!

I don't know why do we have to have a mother out law. They are more trouble than worth it.

What can you do if you can't deal with the in law? Some Christian are the phoniest people in the world.

Remind yourself that,
she is not a perfect mom for your husband but she loves him more than anything in the world. Her expression of love may sound distorted to you, but that's the best she got only up to today. You love her, even some things she do might not look so great to you. You honor her from deep inside your heart, she may haven't noticed it yet. Anyway, I'll pray for your family, so through troubles you may have chance to understand each other better.

Lord, give me the patience and strength to get through this with out the drama. Try to keep the conversation light. The weather, movies, shopping. etc. If you are not on the phone with her long there will be less drama. Good luck..

Been there done that.

It's great to have that feeling of hope through any tough situation but we do not have to pray a specific prayer for God to hear us, we can talk normally just like you and I.

oh how do I loathe those mother in laws, too bad they cant be like your mom right. My suggestion get a stress ball when she calls. When she comes over just say to yourself in a bit she will be gone.
good luck

The scriptures about LOVE would work
1Corinthians 13:4 - 8a

also the story of Ruth and Naomi is of inspiration.

And John 13:34 A new command that we love one another

Your mother in law was a very important part of your husbands life until he married
Now you are shutting her out
Be patient and loving she will eventually find friends to be with.

I have 5 sons and 1 daughter and I am shut out of most things. The girls naturally tend to be with their mothers more....
But the mothers of sons want to be in their sons lives until they die.
Jesus was with his mother as much as he could and he provided for her even from the torture stake.
Men your mother needs your emotional and spiritual support and love. Honor your mother and your father..so that you may live a long time on the earth.
God commanded all of us to do that.

Ask yourself ...will I want my son to ignore me when I am older? We have to teach by example..teach that the whole family is a part of your lives.

How about

"I'm sorry, there is someone at the door, I will call you back later."

Probably infinitely more effective than any prayer.
