I know i am going to get a lot of non-answers for this one, but I'll ask anyway because i want people to really think about this.

Why are you a member of your religion?

Do you simply believe what your parents believe because they told you to? Did you do any research into other religions, or even into your own for that matter? Is it a matter of tradition, blind faith, or actual logical consideration? I'll be the first to admit i have not done much research myself, but it is something i intend to do. Hopefully i worded this question correctly, its hard to put to words what i actually mean.

The short answer is: I believe what I do because I have no other choice.

The physical universe -- the real and actual, made of matter and energy -- is what is presented before me. There is no evidence for anything more than that.

How can I believe in the existence of something I have no evidence? Why SHOULD I? What a colossal waste of time and resources, to devote myself to the superstitious ramblings of a bunch of Bronze Age goatherders?

I believe in no religion because the evidence -- or more specifically, the LACK of evidence -- compels me to.

And because KNOWING things is so much more satisfying to me than BELIEVING.

It is the only truth, because my heart is not touched by any other religion. First place, most other religions have a new prophet saying the Bible is wrong and God sent someone to totally change it. If you know the Lord, you know that God is more than able to protect His Word, the Holy Bible. God was even smarter than the average bear and told us that this would be said about His Word, but the truth He said is not one jot or tittle will pass from His truth, until all is fulfilled. The prophecy in the Holy Bible has been tested time and time again. It is the most accurate predictions which have ever been foretold. No man can deny the fulfilled prophecy of God's Word, the Holy Bible. The King James Version and before.

I am not a member of any religion, I am a firm believer in God instead, to lead me and guide me. No I think my parents had their own way of believing they had their own religion and I wasn't wanting what they had, they weren't christian but they were believers they just didn't practice it..my parents never had a personal relationship with God, mom more so later in her life she did but that was just before she passed away but dad never did, but then again I can't read or see his heart only God can do that..
I only like tradition in the holidays only not in how my people believes or how they raised me to believe, there is always a time or a season of change. when I was able and old enough I started seeking God on my own, I heard so much about Him and wanted to know Him but not just by name.
So I went out seeking Him in the many different churches found Him in some and others I didn't. I then went and lived my live my own way till later on then I started having some real freaky experiences in my life that scared me badly and a friend walked me through the steps to become a Born Again Christian, and in my living room I was delivered and prayed through so was my house..
Again I am a Born Again Christian but have no desire to believe in or to have a religion. But that's the story of how it worked out with me, and I am very happy because I finally have that personal relationship I wanted for so long with God..I hope u find what u are looking for.

I research most everyday in living out his word . I am certainly no saint, but know, how wonderful his blessing can be. I was born March 5th. of 2006 yet I am almost 65. I've experience so many miracles because I believe in him. I once heard a minister say that Jesus is the only perfect one because he has no grave. All others have died and are in their graves. Check it out.
I was lucky my parents gave me credence to God and Jesus.], but that's is not the reason I am who I am today it was just a wonderful blessing they had God as our creator.
I am a member of baptist church. However I don't believe in everything I hear or read because there has to be conflicting areas.
Miracle are such blessings. You and I are from a Royal Family if you also believe.
Miracles happen to me and others because I have witnessed many.
GOD be with you!

I was introduced to Christianity at a very early age by my parents. I became a Christian at the age of 4. I have since done a large amount of research on both Christianity and other religions.
It started as blind faith.
I have never been very traditional.
I have since done much in the way of logical consideration, and I wouldn't choose another way. Nother else makes sense.

I was born into and raised in the Catholic Church. I read up on other denominations and faiths and I have studied my own at the graduate level. I chose, and continue to choose, to remain Roman Catholic (even with the church's many imperfections) because it is the best way I have found to express my faith and praise God in a way that just clicks with me. No blind faith involved (leaps of faith, sure), but logic and tradition both have come into play. And on a very personal note, by remaining in and working in the Catholic church, I hope to do my part to influence it from the ground up.

it is a great question to not only ask of others but to also ask of yourself. I wish everyone would honestly delve into this for themselves. Personally, I was raised Catholic but even as a child I did not feel God in my religeon. As I grew up I felt God in my heart and decided that is where I will connect. To follow others blindly never made sense to me, I always felt a person has to think and feel for themselves. The basic message of ALL religeons I believe is good, unfortunately it is man that has distorted the beautiful truths in them. Also, logically, much of what is being taught in religeons just didn't make sense to me. It wasn't loving at all. Your "research" is within yourself.

It makes more sense than another. Historically it has been proven true. It's a big puzzle piece that when put in its place does a great job of making the model and view of reality so much clearer.

I developed my own sense of spirituality over the years, and then discovered that there was a term that pretty much fit what I had already come to believe.
