Its not the fastest growing religion. To answer the question though, I think it is growing rapidly because more and more people are actually studying about it rather then listening to the media. I know I always doubted everything the media portrayed on Islam and I took to reading the Quran to see what it really said. I am now a muslim revert myself.

because ignorant people who control the media are just very under-educated, or probably just jealous of the fact that Islam is the FASTEST growing religion in the world. But when people stop letting the media think for them and see for themselves, they realize the truth that Islam IS a peaceful and sensical religion.

It's not the fastest growing religion, though it is "a" fast growing religion.

Then again, it probably depends on how one defines "fast". Paganism (or neo-paganism) is likely faster growing, if one considers conversion to a faith a reliable means of calculating growth.

The problem with saying that Islam is the fastest growing religion is that such "growth" is mostly due to the number of muslims being born in an already populous area. It is merely a function of the population expansion in certain areas.

Before we say which religion is the fastest growin, we need to define our terms.

Is it the religion with the greatest number of people converting?
Is it the religion with the largest growth in number of adherents over a specific period of time?
Is it the religion with the largest growth by percentage in a given period of time?
Which subset of that religion are we considering? (In Christianity, is it all of Christendom, protestantism, a particular denomination, etc._?

Islam is forced on many people like it was forced in India many centuries ago. Also, people change their religion after marriage and Muslims still practise bigamy. I am saying in context to the whole world, not only America, especially the backward countries in the world.

Well, you heard of the Lina Joy episode in Malaysia? Muslims can't leave islam and in some countries, mainly islamic countries, you get the death penalty for leaving.

Anyway, Islam is NOT fastest growing religion. It is not even growing. All it does is to have muslims give birth to tons of children and by default they are muslims.

islam only seems to be the fastest growing because they don't subtract the number of people who have left or the ex-Muslims are afraid to say they no longer believe. It's called manipulation.

God Bless.

Islam keeps saying it is the fastest growing, but I don't see the evidence to back that up.

According to the ARIS survey, the fastest growing religious sector is "No religion".
