Is this a mockery of human intelligence, or should we just call the funny farm? On Tuesday's PAGE ONE of the newspaper was the following article:

What do you think? Would you trust people who take this seriously? Would you do business with them? Let them babysit your kids?

Be honest!

This just floors me! Where does it all stop? You've got people spitting on brooms, lighting candles, avoiding cats, praying to Jesus, etc.

I'm sorry Jean, but it all seems to fit in the same box to me!

I'll have to dig up the yard to get rid of all the St. Joseph's whenever I buy a house, I guess . . . .

A St. Joseph's Homesellers Kit? Now I've seen everything! I think the people I wouldn't let babysit my kids are the people selling this crap! If homesellers think this will help them, there-in lies their problem. That they would buy into this racket makes me wonder about the quality of the homes they are selling. What's wrong with people???? How stupid can they get? It's too many McDonalds happy meals that have fried their brains and taken away their ability to tell the difference between what's real and what isn't.

Traditions are odd things. I am an Atheist so you would think I would have zero time for such things. But I was raised in a very ancient part of England, where superstition still reigns strongly.

Call it a habit, but even I won't walk under a ladder, and I feel weird when I step on a crack in the sidewalk. Go figure ;)

Realtors are notoriously competitive, I expect they assume it can't hurt...

It goes like this: Bury a statue of St.Joseph upside down in the front yard of house to be sold. I heard of this a few times on talk radio, Coast to Coast is the show. Why would anyone or any entity help someone who's disrespectul? I see no sense in this. I suppose it shows how desperate people can get.

Smacks of idolatry to me, but then again, I never got the whole Madonna-on-a-halfshell thing either. For those of you that don't get that reference, it is the Catholic practice of taking an old bathtub, painting it blue, sinking it into the ground on their front yard, and placing a statue of the Virgin Mary inside it. Now, a blessing, maybe some white sage burned, etc, that makes sense to me.

Yeah, that's a VERY old tradition. The people who do just cuz "it's tradition" or "oh what the heck, can't hurt" don't concern me... it's the ones who go out and buy kits like this and really think that that alone in going to be some sort of magic bullet that will sell their house who scare me.

That is a very old tradition. And I believe it has worked...but this type of thing is silly. It plays out like superstition and discredits true devotion.

But there are those always out to make a buck. It doesn't mean much more then that.

Unfortunately such practices tend to blur the difference between legitimate prayer to a saint for intercession, vs. superstition, which is why such practices are not approved by the Catholic Church. Obviously it has nothing to do with idols or idolatry since no worship is involved.

This is idol worship and any Christian with good sense knows better than to believe in idols or saints. Christians believe in God and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Just another example of superstitious nonsense being promoted by those wishing to make a buck.
