I try not to make a habit of it and of course it does depend on how close you are to the person. My brother and I for example will just drop in on each other at any time and it is no big deal.
In fact, since we have the keys to each others places, it is not unusual for one of us to come home and find the other lounging on the couch, watching TV, drinking a beer.
But that is a special case. What about my aunt and uncle? We live in the same city, just a few miles apart. It used to bother me that I did not see them often and they never called. Once a couple of years ago when we were all having dinner with another relative, my uncle told me to come on by their house any time I felt like it. He said that I did not need an invitation. But I would prefer an invitation. Sometimes when I do drop by, like in my previous question, I feel a little bit awkward. What should I do?
Continue to drop by unannounced, call them occasionally without going over, wait for them to call me?
