Computers aren't in the Bible, so are they from Satan, too?
Typically, the religious arguments against cloning boil down to "only God may create life".
To the best of my knowledge no one has cloned a human being, even though the technology exists. No one wants to be the first to do so, at least not publicly. Nevertheless, within 10 years it *will* happen.
edit: Hey Ray...it's called "progeria".

I used to be against cloning because of the deformity issue but then I realized it could help out alot and if that issue were taken care of it'd be great. The only way to stop the deformities is to keep trying and experimenting. I see nothing wrong with it but then again, I'm not a Christian.

another arguement is that genetic manipulation often causes unwanted side effects, such as the genetic rapid aging syndrome (forgot the name), or a new genetic disease we cannot combat could arise.
if you could get rid of all biological risks, then it's basically the same sitch on here: you feel less unique if you have clones. clones are basically stealing your identity. plus all the sci-fi "we'll clone some guy, commit crimes with them, and blame it on him!" thing. less security problems, the better
then there's the relationship factor with identities. your clone calls your bf/gf and tells them "I don't want to see you anymore". there's a 99% chance no one will believe you if you say "my clone did it!".
and then again, there'd be more "why did you make me? my life is meaningless, I'm not original, I'm not special" suicides, fights for clone rights, controversy over whether dna matching for forensics works, whether or not this clone will be sound in mind....
many, many risks

Because it is people trying to play God by actually thinking they could create a human like God did. I don't think man will ever be able to eliminate the risk as you stated and create a copy of a person. Only God can do that.
Edit: Very good answer Sophie!!

I would think the argument would be because man should not be creating man.
Althought I don't 100% agree. I'm not so sure I'm ok with the idea of creating a whole new person just to take out their body parts.

the religious argument is that "if god wanted the couple to have a baby, he would give it to them naturally". since it is not natural to artifically clone an individual, religious people think scientists are trying to "play god". also, many times, the purpose of cloning is not to have a child -- it is to harvest the body for organ donations and to use the clone for science. religious people are very against this also.

I just think its creepy as heck. I wouldn't want to copy a person, weird stuff. If you want a clone, enjoy.
Honestly, i dont see why people want to clone..... maybe an animal that's at risk of going extinct... but humans? meh whatever

It would be dangerous because the priests could manufacture altar boys and then we'd have a whole new form of abuse on our hands.
Clone molestation..... at first it won't be a big deal, but then there will be "clone rights activists" who say clones are humans too and they should be treated fairly so the priests will lose their cloned altar boys as well as the original ones.

I don't think it would be a problem as long as people understood that the clone would still be a uniqu individual with interests and talents that may be different from the original. But why? We are overpopulated as it is.
