If they are afraid of God's Holy Spirit, then they are afraid of God, who is the Holy Spirit.

Because the Holy Spirit leads you in all truth. Most people here I have seen is afraid of the truth so maybe that is why. The Holy Spirit is so gentle and will never intrude if He is not welcome. The only thing is people answering you here is they have to be care full because God said in His word that the sin that will not be forgiven is sinning against the Holy Spirit. The disciples were wimps until they received the Holy Spirit and then they were bold and unafraid. The Holy Spirit teaches us all things which are beneficial.

Because they don't understand it. But if they ask to receive the Holy Spirit than they will receive it, and God will take away the fear. I know this because I received it about 4 years ago and have been speaking in tongues ever since. :)
