That is a very selfish reason to turn your back on God agnostic - (MUCH easier and more enjoyable without the burden of religion) He doesn't ask a thing of you, he only wants you to have joy, and you conclude that.

Cat Lover, you don't seem to say that with very much conviction. Its kinda sad. And if something horrendous happened in your life, is it worth saying, God does not exist, I now have proof? He tests us all, admittedly so, he tests some a lot more than others.

Andrew, I am not completely affirmed about Baal, because you are the first to bring it to my mind. Which Baal do you speak of, wikipedia is confused --

Baal is a Judeo-Christian demon. His name also refers to various gods and goddesses who are not demons. This is a potential source of confusion.

I believe that religion was invented to give the masses that exact thing - a sense of security or a sense of not being alone. A sense of being cared for. --

I don't know why anyone could believe a virgin could give birth, a man could walk on water or turn water into wine, resurrection, etc...

So yeah, until I see proof of those types of events, then my beliefs will stay the same.

The births have raised questions among scientists as to whether sharks may be able to reproduce parthenogenetically. There are possibilities other than parthenogenesis. The Belle Isle white spotted bamboo shark that you were reffering to, may have been fertilized by a male at a very young age. There have been some random reports of shark species storing sperm for a couple of months or more.

Affirmed? I've never heard that particular word linked with atheist before :p

But yes, I am 'completely affirmed" as an atheist.

What do you mean "easier without him"? lol Wouldn't it be easier if I DID believe in God? If I did, I'd think that I had a ticket to an afterlife. I follow rules, I am a good person. Atheism is not a free pass to break all the rules. Sorry if that bursts anyones bubble. I don't care how many times people say atheists can't be moral; it just isn't true. Leading an immoral life is not my motivation for being an atheist.

I am completely affirmed in the fact that I do not believe in the Abrahamic God of the Bible.

It is irrelevant to say that life is easier without "Him" since an Atheist does not believe that "He" exists" so I would rather inquire as to whether our lives are easier without the belief in "Him".

In my opinion, it would be incorrect to say that one's life is easier without this belief because the belief in God provides a false sense of security which many people find comforting. I believe that religion was invented to give the masses that exact thing - a sense of security or a sense of not being alone. A sense of being cared for.

So I would actually say that those who have an affirmed belief in God hold that belief because it is easier. It is easier to not look for reason and proof and explanations. It is easier to blame everything on God instead of facing the fact that we do not have the answers to everything and the fact that we do not have the answer to what lies beyond the scariest thing to a person: death. It is easier to blame the evils in the world on a mythical being named the Devil rather than to face the fact that people in this world choose without influence to do things we perceive as 'evil'.

Religion is a coping mechanism.

In my opinion, anyone who is absolutely completely certain of his belief (or non-belief) is a fool because he's totally closed off to any new ideas. I'm 97-98% on a few things (including religion) but never 100%.
And yes, life is far better without living at the whims of a (probably) fictional god.

100% until someone can prove me otherwise.

I'd say it is harder instead of easier not to be able to run to an imaginary god and have to deal with things by yourself.

With all the junk that is and has been going on during the millenia, I'd say your deity that knows what everybody is doing and created everything, has an extremely bad attitude and a worse perfomance record.

Oh no there is no such thing as a god, there is no proof. bottom line, life in my can't be looked at like that easier or harder with or with out a god because we do not know what it would be like if there was a god or your god I guess i should say, there are many religions believing in very different gods nothing make christianity better or more legit simply because it has more brainwashed suckers, sorry to sound harsh but it is really the truth, I believe in science, nature, myself and family. Believing something because it makes your life easier is, in my testament, a sin. I cherish wisdom. Ill eat from the tree of knowledge and i dont give a rat's fart if some god tells me not to.
"Beleiving my car will never transform into a bowl of salad is fascinating because it would require me to sit and watch my car for eternity and to be able to sit for eternity would require that I am a God and, therefore, omniscient and know my car's destiny!"
Get Real.

When some cars start randomly transforming into bowls of salad, then it would be plausible for me to speculate, and maybe ill try to depend less on my car continuing to be a car. But until then, forget it.

I do not require affirmation for my lack of belief. I believe things based on compelling evidence or reasonable argument. It is for the lack of evidence that religions have failed to convince me.

Now a question for you. Are you completely affirmed in your disbelief for Baal? Or is your life just a lot easier without him?
