I got ancestors that were killed fighting for the flag, however, I get flak from people because I have the insignia of it on a ring that I wear. I have heard people say, "It represents slavery." I wonder if the same people really read about the cause of the American Civil War in any history textbook.

The civil war was started because the southern states felt like they were being ignored for political and economic growth. (seeing as the only major cities were those developed over the mason dixon line, they were right.) The majority of people that fought in the war, felt it was the only way to show the injustice being done to them. The emancipation proclimation was done after a year and a half of the war was already fought, and not as an act of equality, but because Southerns had guarnteed freedom and land to any slave that fought for their cause and the Northern states used the proclamation as a tactic to lower numbers.

So why is the flag hated again?

Our founding fathers were so Christian and all and I read in a response to a question that "slavery was ok according to the bible"
So what about killing the Indians was that ok too.
Sure our founding fathers were Christian and not part of a cult as you say?

p.s. I'm bringing my copy of Matthew Alper's "The God Part of the Brain." I was originally going to bring the Book of the Dead, but I was informed that one of my nephews will be christened after church, so I have to stay for that too, as well as the obligatory family dinner. I'd rather just go to the dinner, but a promise is a promise and since I'm going to be with them all day, I figured I'd do a little prosyletizing. Can't do that by offending people. You have to play nice. I figure once they see why other religions have spiritual experiences, from a rational standpoint, they may start to question if that's why they have theirs. Have a great day everyone!

Oh, yeah, almost forgot I need to ask a question. Okay, since I'm going to church today as agreed, even though I don't believe in god, and I'm sticking to my word, does that prove that atheists have morals that are not assigned to them by god through the bible?

*Before you judge-I'm using my school's computer.

Yesterday in the homeless shelter @ dinner time I was standing & reading something, & my stomach was hurting. I accidentally passed gas, & I didn't know that my roommate was right behind me, sitting down. I thought nobody was there. Of course when you fart, you won't make it in time to the bathroom. She loud-capped me in front of everyone & embarrassed me, saying, "Eww! She FARTED, & RIGHT in front my face!" & then instead of her moving, she told me to stand somewhere else. She was finished eating her food, so why was she still in the dining room chit chatting?

I apologized & she kept going on & on about it. & she even went OUTSIDE, telling everyone what happened. So later on, I apologized again, & she made it like I was the one blowing the issue out of proportion.

But she did my other roommate something wrong & her feelings got her because my other roommate didn't accept her apology & was ignoring her.

More and more schools are embracing the teachings of the bible with regard to God's creation of the world.

Should evil men such as Richard Dawkins be allowed to try and ban the teaching of God's Gospel of Truth?

Would you trust a non-relative in his 80's who wanted you to provide care and do other work to keep him out of a nursing home if he promised to compensate you in his will? Or would you think this is just a scam to make you a sucker and a slave so that he can give the money he saves away to his relatives?

French is my native language but I think that it is easier to learn English for a french-speaker than to learn French for an english-speaker
.
Actually, I think that French is a too complicated language (there is a plenty of manner to conjugate verbs, etc).

If you also speak french but that your native language is English, what do you think of French learning?

It was reported this week that the second most popular name for baby boys in the UK is Muhammad and that this name is likely to become the most popular name for baby boys within a year:

Does this mean that Islam will eventually take over as the predominant religion within the UK?

A reliable source has told me that a forfather killed a gypsywoman that he loved for being a heratic, and the crone(the girls aunt) of the gypsy troup put a curse on his decendants with all her anger . They had a daughter before she was killed named Lilith. So we are children of her ,and good people with incrediably bad luck, so how can we atone for it or turn it away?

Are you actually being tolerant of the differences, and embracing oneanother despite the difference, of religion, culture, color of skin, opinion, political affiliation, sexuality, or any other differences separating us? Or are you letting hypocricy stand in your way?

I can say that honestly I always do my best, it varies from day to day...I am human. I am doing my best to be accepting, and sharing the messages of acceptance, and love. I will always do my best regardless of others actions, and be forgiving of those who are less tolerant. My quest in this life is to help others become more tolerant of others, and by doing so...helping in some small way. Peace and love.
Blessings to you all.

If you look at what we consider "moral" today it differs vastly from what past societies did. The majority of people do not consider women chattel, other races as not human beings, or slavery as a good thing. (I was going to say torture, but our government thinks its just fine) We believe there are basic human rights, which was not the case at the time of the founding of Christianity. So, has morality evolved? If so, why? Also, does it go against the Bible, since these changes occured long after it was written.

for the record, I do believe in God but have many questions. Some Christians automatically ridicule me or bash me for asking. I don't get some of you " LOVING " Christians?

I recently had a supervisor tell me that only good things come from God and that he called them Blessings, not Luck. I then asked him if having a disability or an injury was a Blessing and he said "No!". I then asked him where bad things came from and he said, "I DON'T KNOW!", and he did not want to talk about it any more, like most fundamentalist traditionalists act.

I think every moment of life is a Blessing even our hardships. I think they are part of our life's work within the Entertainment spectrum from Heaven's view. I think when we see hardship as a Blessing, then we can envision things like everyone doing their best right now whether we think so or not.

What do you think?
