French is my native language but I think that it is easier to learn English for a french-speaker than to learn French for an english-speaker
.
Actually, I think that French is a too complicated language (there is a plenty of manner to conjugate verbs, etc).

If you also speak french but that your native language is English, what do you think of French learning?

@ Barry: Oui, en écoutant des émissions à la radio, en regardant des programmes à la TV, on peut s'améliorer, mais ce que je veux dire, c'est apprendre les bases! Ce n'est pas facile je pense pour un anglo-saxon.
(ce n'est que mon avis)

Right...

I know that I shouldn't answer your question, as I am a french native living in english speaking countries for a few years now.

If you're talking about the common english (although I am not sure it really exists), yes, English is easier to learn than most languages. But if you're talking about litterature, poetry, words and proper english grammar, then it can easily be a sort of a nightmare.

There are more than twice as much words in English than in French and English is very well alive, so everyday or so, there are some new words coming in it, from all over the world.

Having said that, when you are going downunda for example, you will realise fairly soon that the English which is spoken by the Aussies is already very different.

As if there was only one way to finish for a dominant language that is to create as many languages as latin did 1500 years ago...

By the way, there is at least one sentence I can't say: "excuse my french" Lol

I was born in Philadelphia, PA and learned French. The first time I went to France, people asked me what part of the country I was from. As in the USA, there are several different regional pronunciations. I never found conjugation to be difficult and the spelling is slightly more regular than that of English. Alors, la capacite d'apprendre une langue depend de l'individu.

I have a degree in French and German and I love languages. I feel that it was not an easy language to learn, but I pity anybody that learns to speak/read/write English as our grammar is so difficult. We do not seem to have specific rules and exceptions. French is a beautiful language and I am proud to speak it!
