Would you trust a non-relative in his 80's who wanted you to provide care and do other work to keep him out of a nursing home if he promised to compensate you in his will? Or would you think this is just a scam to make you a sucker and a slave so that he can give the money he saves away to his relatives?

Yes , some generations are more honest than others. I would never trust anyone from any generation that was ever on a Gov give away program or had been in prison.

I think many people in his situation would be sceptical of younger people, thinking that they are doing it to steal from them and try to take all their money. If you both have a trust between you, and you are comfortable and capable of providing care for him then do it. if not then don't.
