I have read it through. I study it every day. I have had 4 years of college studying it. The Bilble has been part of my life for 50 years.
One can read the Bible and not understand it because the Holy Spirit helps us understand. Those who have fallen away from Christianity did not understand the Bible.

I have read and tried to get all the understanding that I need if I read something and don't understand I go to the Billy Graham website or sometimes John Hagee you know I just look it up on the Internet although sometimes you see some messed up things and common sense would tell you that's not right I also pray for more understanding I talk it over with the friends that I do have that know what they are talking about you know the ones that really are Christians the ones that go to church and not because their parents say they have to smile...
I do read the Bible on a daily basis except on Mondays sometimes I have a lot to do on Mondays although I still study over some things sometimes
Of course I have read the Bible otherwise I would have been so lost and so out of it you know...smiles

In my 44 years I have read the Bible through several times. I do try to study it every day, though it usually ends up being 5 days a week.
I own several copies in two different languages, and different versions. I also own 2 different Bibles on CD Rom and a cassette recording. And I'm quite sure it's out there on MP3 somewhere.

When I answer here on YA! I don't usually cut and paste a lot of verses because that isn't what the asker usually wants. Mile-long answers are seldom necessary to speak to a person at their point of need.

I answer questions from my opinion and sometimes send a site to back it up depending on whether that would help my credibility.
I have read the Bible through more than once.
I study the Bible daily but feel it is never enough.

I study the bible on an almost daily basis- I admit that sometimes I don't "get to it".
I have been a Christian for 14 years, and I have not read the entire Bible. I'm workin on it.
Thanks for the website- I'll take a look, sound interesting.

I am an atheist. I have read the bible maybe 10, or so times. The need to study a text, daily, that I place no importance on, eludes me. The bible, when researched with an open mind, is a collection of plagiarized stories. Do some investigation, with the idea that you might not be right, and if you are fair and balanced, I would be surprised if you believed it, hook line and sinker.
It IS okay to be wrong, you are only human.
Mythology has been around as long as societies have been around.

Yes, I've read the Bible. More than once. Studied its formation in college, as well. Read a lot of books and listened to a lot of lectures about the origins and evolution (heh) of it. So I definitely have a basis for my answers.

But Christianity isn't the only religion asked about in this forum. A better question is: How many people have read the Bible, the Quran, the Vedas, etc.?

But you're too keen on plugging your software link to ask that question, aren't you?

hey Mark,

i have not yet read the entire bible cover to cover, beginning to end, but rather have read it piece by piece and studied it in sections over the years. I've studied it at christian youth groups and festivals and seminars, but not daily i'm afraid.

No doubt many atheists would immediately criticize this and announce me "intellectually challenged", but i don't think a Christian has to take every word the bible says as the law in order to still believe in God and be Christian. I've been to lectures by both scientists and religious people, and books about religions, and i'd say i know my religion.

I think people should bear in mind the time in which the bible was written in, and that it could be outdated. People should remember certain emperors and leaders censoring parts and so on (like Constantine) and has probably been edited, controlled and rewritten so many times, its the work of followers of God and not God himself.
There is other proof out there that led me to believe in God, and although the bible is full of rich, beautiful texts, i see them more as the history of our religion, and maybe guidance during rough times.

I find it more interesting to read and study the gospels and scriptures that were not included in the bible. Many of them are much older and provide the links between christianity and other religions, and i love reading them - they really enrichen my understanding, and make me more secure in my faith than many of the books in the bible do!

I know it goes against the grain, but i'd have to say the book of enoch, from the dead sea scrolls was my favourite.

I know many people disagree with my liberal approach to the bible, but i think in the 21st century it is the more practical approach to have. Not that i don't have the utmost respect for fundamentalist christians, and people who see the bible as god's complete word; everybody follows the creator in their own way.

thanks

Yes, I have read the Bible through. In fact I have read it through many times. I also have heard it read from the pulpit and studied it when I was in college, as I majored in theology and philosophy. I probably know more about how it was put together than you do. Now I am an atheist.

I have read the bible twice; once on my own and once as part of the four comparative religions classes I took in college. I do not read it daily as I am not a christian nor have the desire to be. My mother raised me baptist until I walked away at age 15.

There is very little fact to religion and a lot of faith. When one has faith they believe it to be fact but that is not necessarily true. In that case, most everything everyone states about belief is opinion and each person has the right to their own.
