So let's look at the Bible from the angle that Christians do; that a main character in the Bible is all powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. So let's look at one passage; Judges 1:19, and see if what it says fits into the concept of a God that can do anything.

"The LORD was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had iron chariots."

Doesn't this mean that the Christian God CAN'T do everything, because he couldn't beat an army with iron chariots? Your thoughts, please.

The bible only tells God's side of the story. What do you think would happen if there was a book that told Lucifer's side of the story? Is there anyone here who would read such a book, who would be willing to consider such a view point, to look at it with an open mind? After all there is always more than one side to every story. And How can anyone claim to understand anything about any story if they only know one side of it? We have God's side, what about Lucifer's?

I know that all Christians don't believe in tithing... but to the ones that do....

Is it easy for you to give your tithe? Do you give it graciously or do you give it out of obedience?

Do you think god will accept it the same way if you really didn't want to give it but you did, because you wanted to obey him?

Fellows,

I am a Christian myself and some answers do need to be answered by verses. Some, however, can be simply and matter-of-factly answered.

Do you, as a general audience, skip over an answer when it is chock full of random verses? Do you, as I, cherish quality answers over a quantity approach? Lastly, do you find it annoying to be force-fed scripture?

My best friend is a first generation American; his father was from Serbia. My friend follows the Orthodox faith, and we talk about it sometimes, and I participated in his wedding at start of the new year and was fascinated! One thing that intrigues me however, is the apparent dichotomy that seems apparent with a large number of followers. There seems to be a sort of overt, social conservatism paired with a covert earthy, agrarianism – almost hippy-ish if you will. It seems so yin-yang and so contrary, I often wonder if there isn’t some dynamic secret I’ve been missing all this time. Can someone please fill me in?

Leaving your own personal religion aside for a minute, what if at the end of your life your existence was judged by a copy of yourself, who knew everything about you that you did, and also had your expectations.

Would you be willing to face yourself as judge? Why or why not?

I've always been told God is in control of everything.
If that is true, then as rational agents we do not have 100% free will. But if that is true then we cannot be held responsible for what we do can we? If the free will issue is viewed from a 'God-is-just' viewpoint then how can he control our actions for his purposes?

Also, when 'following God's will' I've heard people 'follow' in different fashions...
1) It's what makes them feel good
a. this makes no sense because 'the right thing' is usually painful and sacrificial so this idea seems to stand in opposition to God's will.

2) God's will is whatever happens
a. If this is true then why are we asked to seek it
b. Can God's will be prevented?
c. If thats true then why do anything?

3) God's will is what occurs when we act in accordance with his commands and we focus on him
a. makes sense but then some say w/o joy it cannot be God's will
b. It seems like the pressure is on us here

So ???? (I'm lost)
