Fellow Christian here...who hates when people use verses to back up their answers.
In my time on YA, I have recognized that atheists do not want to hear us quote the Bible, as they simply do not hold the Bible as a sacred text, but instead believe that it should be next to Mary Higgins Clark and Dan Brown.
The Bible is illogical in their eyes. Atheists look for logic. Unfortunately, YA is bombarded with uneducated Christians who give a Bible verse to "prove" their point, yet they only help prove non-believers points in the end...that being on of unintelligent and basically self-righteous.
I stray from using the Bible. I believe there are other logical ways to see God and the things we argue about. The challenge of my faith is to find those, present them, and all the while, remain friendly when I get irritated.
Nice question.

I do prefer the shorter answers, usually when you use scripture that pretty much somes up your answer, some people like to put the whole book that the scripture came out of in, but most of the time that seems unnecessary. Simple and to the point is the best. Definately quality over quantity.

Yes, I skip over any answers that are chock full of verses, I do cherish the answers that are heart felt and not quantity answers, and I hate it when people basically try to shove the bible down my throat.

I have to weigh it on what might be involved with the subject. But I do tend to think that the answerer has to let you know that he or she is being precise as to the subject. All too often, people engage in non sequitorious rhetoric, and then I just completely lose all interest in reading the whole thing. It is important to be precise!
Sometimes I will just tell someone what to read from the Bible, even giving a link most times if it is too long to post. I think that in the interest in keeping the answer legible, one has to take time to answer some questions, but that doesn't mean it has to be long.

Not always but sometimes. lol . I sometimes see 4 or more screens worth of verses and they still haven't addressed the question at hand , God bless their pea-picking little hearts. Most people here that know me will tell you that I mostly tell scripture in street jargon. People on here are very intelligent and can check and see if I am telling it straight in a new york second. Thus eliminating the scenario you described and no force-feeding is necessary

A person asks for an answer in the Bible, so whats wrong with being helpful writing the verses to show them where to look.
It's their choice if they want to look them up or read them.
Each one can decide.
A real Christian shouldn't mind seeing or reading scriptures.

I skip it. If they don't know enough to just speak plainly like the rest of us then their answer isn't worth reading and it is a waste of time and space. I don't care what is in the bible, up to a point, so throwing verses at me will not help you. I am a Christian, but not a bible thumper.

Yes, sometimes I do because if I wanted to know what the Bible specifically said, I could look it up myself. It sits at my left hand as we speak.
It would depend more on whether or not the person was trying to prove their point by interpretation of the scripture. I do not need anothers viewpoint any more than someone needs mine...unless they and I acknowledge that it is just OUR opinion. Only God knows for sure what he wants from us...and I (opinion) believe that God conveys his messages to me pretty easily...even without scripture.

Every time. If an answer is more than a paragraph or two, there is not way I will read it. Why? Because the answers always show that the person offering the answer simply has an agenda and no real interest in sharing ideas.

I don't mind a long answer as long as it has been thoughtfully typed out. If it is a long obvious cut and paste, I thumbs down it to remove it from my screen. That is any cut and paste, not just Bible verses.
As to Bible verses themselves.. one might suffice. the Bible repeats itself; there is no need to list all of the verses that pertain to a certain subject. Perhaps list a reference and allow others to seek out the information on their own. I assure you, those answers do not get read by me.
