Neither of them believe in Zeus, Hera, Vishnu, Ganesha, Manabozho, Wendego, etc. Atheists and Christians are both humans. The only thing they really don't have in common is the belief in a god, and what follows.

A belly button? Wait, did Adam have a belly button? Well, if he was created in God's image, than God must have a belly button to. That would mean that he was created and the Almighty must answer to his Mom just like the rest of us! If he didn't, that would just be too creepy. What about Eve? Did she have a belly button? Was it an inny or an outie? Inquiring minds want to know!

You get a similar reaction too.
On a more serious note:
Individuals in both groups are equally capable of being ethical, compassionate, and a contributory to society.
And if an individual is capable of doing that, then I suspect it doesn't really matter what their differences are.

We all have a great deal in common. Religion drives us apart.

A desire to be happy.
The need to protect their family
Their love for their children, friends and families
Pain when we loose someone
