ever read paradise lost? or menmoch the devil?
basically says god was a tyrant and lucifer left only because he didn't like the way god ran things, not because he was trying to overthrow god. and god only said what he said so people would stay on his side.

The devil is very smart and is able to offer us some very good points. The devil saw something in God that made the devil convinced he could overcome God. God's love did force God to create all the angels and mankind. The devil figures that love must be a weakness then. It's even a tough lesson for us learn that LOVE is real power in the category of ALMIGHTY. The devil gives us this same problem as we experience the actual pain of love. Real love equals pain is the devil's side of the story. Quite a dilemma for us.

very good questions my friend
:-)
well there were actually books written which are far different from the version found in the bible..
some of these books claim that Lucifer is not an adversary, but actually working for God. only when the Canon was put together when they chose specific books that would make him look evil. His real responsibility is to try & test mankind, in obedience to God, not on his own will.
un4tunately, the bible is one sided..
&only people with great wisdom can use it without being bias. Not specifically atheists, but never Christians of course. only when you open your higher self to the Truth whether it's painful & unorthodox, that you'd be able to comprehend such mystery.
that's why we call it Blind Faith, once it's opened....
Faith would be gone.. Mystery solved... Truth prevailed...
but some things we have Faith in are True...
& not everything Truthful, we should ever have Faith in.
:-)

Jesus resist the devil when Satan tempted in the wilderness. Please refer this url: http://www.childrenstory.info/biblestoryforchild/chdbbltemptedinthewilderness.html
One important question that people often ask themselves is: If God is so good as many claim, where does all the evil in the world come from? Grossly simplified we will try to summarise our answer in the following way. The Bible claims that all evil originates from the Devil. He was originally one of Gods most prominent Angels. But he became proud of his power and beauty and rebelled against God by:
* wanting to make himself god. He did this by, amongst other things,
* asserting a completely new lifestyle. He began to be concerned primarily with himself rather than with the good of others
* and by questioning the character of God, among other things by claiming that God was unreliable, a betrayer.

Christians forget Lucifer was God's favorite angel once. I wrote a short novel once in which the Devil granted a Godly man the gift of removing the Seven Deadly Sins from the world. Of course, it all fell apart in increasingly disastrous ways. The Godly man eventually asks for them back. Two sides to everything - or five or six when my father discussed anything! Only one thing is sure - it's up to us to choose our own poison. Or not.

Like God, Lucifer has a direct line to your mind and spirit. Who do you listen to?
The Bible is simply an operations manual for life. It is not God. If the Bible were the only thing that told me God existed, I wouldn't buy it for a minute. I don't even believe everything I read in the newpaper.
Only a personal relationship with God or Satan will determine who we are.
I have had a relationship with both...and I choose God.

I've watched a lot of horror movies and by and large, Satan is always the bad guy! I don't think it goes in his favour that God has angels and Satan has minions. I've seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the devil's minions are top grade ugly! I mean, look at the Exorcist. Would you kiss your kid goodnight if it looked like Meghan at maximum possession? Not unless you were wearing a raincoat and carrying a barf bag!
No ... with self-publishing being so easy and affordable today, I think the devil blew his chance if he hasn't written his story by now. You snooze, you lose!

I don't wanna listen to a liar. The devil deceived one-third of the angels into rejecting God. We are to submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us. Even entertaining such a thought as this one of yours is foolish. God, help us all. Where is this world gonna end up in another hundred years?

Before Eve and Adam ate the forbidden fruit there was no pain, suffering, tears, anguish and so on. But after Satan intervened everything evil was unveiled. Now you know his veiw point and that is to undermind God's children and have them join him in the burning inferno for eternity. Don't you get it, he is already defeated and he knows it. It's like a game to him that he's already loss, but he wants to take as many of the souls of earth that he can with him. He hates God and if he had his way all of God's children would belong to Satan.
God Bless You

Check out "Paradise Lost", or Mark Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger" and "Letters to Earth". Great stories.
I say if you're going to let Christians speak for the devil, then you might as well have Hitler speak for the Jews.
