Hello from Montana,

I would like to make a point that may well recieve huge disagreement (I only hope to hear from you on this).

I was reading the paper while we had lunch and saw somthing I want to share... I always heard of the sentence: "The quick Red Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Brown Dog." I think I had to type it over and over in high school keyboarding (should of called it key-boreing)... So I read that this familiar sentence of 38 letters and 10 words is not the shortest sentence to use all the letters in the alphabet. A contest in the 1930's was held to find the shortest sentence and the actual shortest winner was "disqualified" because of prohibition.

So I could have typed way less in high school if they only allowed the sentence "Pack My Box With Five Dozen Liquor Jugs." Now, I don't wan't to go off on a rant here" (Dennis Miller 2000) but semantics or semiotica is the study of language or words as meaning. The idea that some words are inherintly bad it crazy. I know this is a very controversial subject, and there are tons of articles that have been written about it. I want to know your opinion. I, myself, used to read Harry Potter, I read the first five books. I watched the first two movies as soon as they came out. Once I started going to church, however, aware of the huge controversy over these stories, although I was unsure of whether or not they really should be condemned, I stopped reading them. This was a big step because I was a HUGE Harry Potter (and Ron Weasley) fan. I am still unsure, however, about how bad or okay these books truly are.

Sometimes when I hear people from the U.S.A. talk about how free their country is, I really wonder. It's no more free than where I am. Not only that but freedom is at it's most important level a state of mind. However, that being said, I'll start the list with a couple of observations:

- Americans aren't legally allowed to drink alcohol until 21, although most people around the world can legally do this years earlier.

- Americans aren't free to live their lives knowing that most people around them don't have the right to own a gun.

Can you help add to the list?

Thank you.

She is the owner and manager of my division, me and my 2 co-workers finish reports under constant pressure, then the report sits on her desk for up to A YEAR before she gets around to reading and signing it, meanwhile our clients are getting pissed. The reports are seriously like 5 pages. What should I say to her to make her stop slacking and get some work done.

I realize that I'm slacking right now. Ha ha!

Just something that tickles you?

Mine is: "1 John 4:8 - God is love." Yet........

"45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

God created evil as well, according to this. I think alot of christians may have glossed over this bit....

I keep hearing about the "mountains of evidence" that says evolution is true and creation is just mythology, but i've never SEEN the evidence.

I think you atheists and Scientists are making it all up! Show me the proof that God had nothing to do with the creation of humanity!!!

I posted a question about god killing all of the Egyptian first born baby boys, and I got a load of Christian answers saying it wasn't god it was king Herod, but wasn't it god who came through Egypt at midnight to take the life of all Egyptian firstborns, including the Pharo's own son? My question was directed at the Christian "anti-abortion" brigade, I was pointing out that if they love babies so much, why do they worship a god who's just about the biggest baby murderer there is? They seem to be more "pro birth" than "pro life".

Matthew 19
14 But Jesus said, “Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven.”
21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 14
12 He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbors...
13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,
14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.
John 8
He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.

In recent head to head action, you'd have to say Buddha. The Taliban blew up Buddhist statues in Feb. 2001, drawing ire (and curses) from Buddhist monks worldwide. 8 months later the Taliban were hiding in caves, and nearly 6 years later they're still hiding. If I were a Muslim in southern Thailand I'd take note.

But who would you pick to win an Allah vs. Buddha rematch?
