Prophet: Propheteia

"the speaking forth of the mind and counsel of God"

1 Corinthians 12:28
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31But eagerly desire[e] the greater gifts.

Every one has some spiritual gift. Some even in today's church are given the gift of prophecy. Have you ever received Godly counsel? How about Godly rebuke? Some people have the gift to do it in such a powerful way. It is a spiritual gift.

Where did you come up with the idea that there would be no more prophets? Seems to me unnatural that God wouldn't send prophets. Especially when a prophet is needed for an entire nation. The church mostly has individual prophets, ones that can show spiritual cause and effects. There are also prophets that God sends to speak more nationally or world wide. They speak out against abortion, homosexuality, adultery, pornography and can explain the spiritual and physical effects of such things. Then last but not least the ones that speak out when God will punish and destroy. Hopefully, the others can keep a nation within Gods will and God won't have to call the others.

The last chapter of Revelation has a strong warning about not adding prophecy. (22:18-19)
