..it if they don't want you to pray for them?

Why wouldn't you just do the humble thing (like your bible teaches you to do) and pray without telling them you will?

Do you expect some kind of acknowledgement for the action?

Is it not like trying to rub peoples face in your religion after they've told you to butt out?

It seems kind of childish, arrogant, and rude to tell someone that you'll pray for them after they've told you they are Atheist. Its like saying "I'm going to tell daddy on you".

I'm just wondering because I don't know many but a few I've seen online lately seemed to and I am curious to know if they are odd or typical.

What satisfaction do you derive from answering my pointless queries? Why can't I do it myself? Don't I know how to use a search engine, or read, or tie my own shoes? Also, how come I can't spell, or make any grammatical sense, even in a four-word question? What's my deal, huh? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think in America, regardless of your religious orientation, Sunday has a unique vibe in contrast to the other days. Sundy paper, less people at work, less stuff open, baseball/football on afternoon TV. Some people worship the Lord.

What songs do you enjoy especially on a Sunday morning, with breakfest or coffee.

I love to start sunday with "Soul Serenade" by Aretha Franklin and "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke.

You?

Just curious. Since you think you're doing a nice thing when you pray for someone who doesn't share your belief structure.

Please identify your belief / non-belief. Your answer is closest to which of the following:

1) I'm atheist and it's easier to be a Christian because all I have to do is stop thinking, and let myself believe in fairy tales.
2) I'm a Christian and it's easier to be an atheist because all I have to do is give in to my immoral flesh.
3) I'm atheist and it's easier to be an atheist because I don't have to waste energy ignoring facts.
4) I'm a Christian and it's easier to be a Christian becaue I don't have to waste energy ignoring God.
5) Other.

I am a Christian, but am curious about shamanism. My husband is also a Christian and has read many of the books by Tom Brown (the tracker, visionquest, etc) and has mentioned that these are great books and have had a huge impact in his life. I never really thought about it, until I decided to read one of these books and see what it's all about. I only read a page or two and was very surprised at what I found and am now feeling a little disturbed by this. I had always thought that shamanism (or whatever Tom Brown is teaching?) was not compatible with Christianity. Any thoughts? If you are answering and aren't christian, I would appreciate if you would indicate so in your answer so I can better understand the responses I get. Thanks!

the story you tell, that all of us who don't think like you are going to Hell? As intelligent people does that really make sense to you? This is a serious question and not meant to offend anyone. I was a Christian for many years - I know the bible. No need to quote it at me. Just tell me - do you really believe that?

What is the "God" in reference to? Did the US government mean gods in general? Does it have a religious connnotation or just something else that has nothing to do with religion.

Because it feels like only western religion would use God with capital G. It completely ignores, say, those that believe in more than one gods. Or in fact, those that believe there is no god.

I know how the phrase got there but Im just not sure what sense the word "God" was used.

Here's my thought,

The government could grow, manufacture, regulate, and sell Marijuana (maybe like a pack of cigarrettes). Take the proceeds and fund national health care. What do you think??
Just a big brainfart or is there something to that idea??

Wouldn''t the all powerful omniscient being be quite amused that people need to worship him. God has everything so why does he even require thanks?

Please enlighten me.
