yes, u asked my grandfather about his past......i learned i lot about his past.....he was living in Croatia(Yugoslavia) and he was on that walk to Bleiburg.....he was even in a concentration camp Jasenovac. it was horrible, the stories he told me. how the killed people on the way, children, women and they threw them in the river. the took all of their food and gold and everything. they had to walk for days. in the concentration camp they gave them little food, they had to work, there was a lot of people and they killed a group of the every day. they were sick and tired but no one cared. it all happened 1945. i was so sad when he told me how those soldiers raped the women and how they have beaten the children. also he told me there were many buildings there. women had their building, man theirs. they worked all they long and they slept in the buildings they were working in. there was only one hospital and if someone was badly injured or very sick(hat to be in a hospital for some time and needed medicine)they would take them from their hospital beds and kill them and burn the remains. maybe you didn't need the information but i just tough i should share. and to think that people covered it up and didn't talk about it...horrible

I am lucky enough to have my grandmother still living at the age of 98, and with her mind as clear as a bell.

What you say about living pages of history is so very true ... her stories of the past are so fascinating, because she was there and knows what things were like 'back in the day'.

Thanks for this great question, reminding us of the treasure the elderly are for us :-)

Best wishes :-)
