I'm just wondering because I don't know many but a few I've seen online lately seemed to and I am curious to know if they are odd or typical.

I'm not a Christian now but I know the Southern Baptists VERY well and have never met one single one that thought anything about Jews killing Jesus. All had very positive feelings for Jews inside and out- I'm not sure why as they usually know few of them.
Hmmn, very predictable answers so far.

To the person that added info about Southern Baptists: I am not a Southern Baptist and don't wish to speak for them but my point was directed to the earlier response about how an average person actually thinks and acts- not dogma. He said they think Jews killed Jesus and I know for a fact this is a non-issue for them. I honestly think he is making this up because it’s so out of context from what I’ve seen. That’s old Catholic stuff. You would have to show what you mean about those policies you mention but I doubt most of them would have even seen the written text. If I find some written text about the Torah, laws of Israel, or policies of some Jewish organization do you really think average Jews in those groups totally adhere to doctrine or even know it thoroughly? I don’t care about Southern Baptists but I dislike misinformation.
It’s irrelevant as that's not my question and you're supposed to at least answer the question and then make offhanded comments.

tombollocks: although it’s noble to stand up for others I think it’s interesting that the “trash” you mentioned might be significant because you state you’re not Jewish but the first one said he was Jewish (on another post) and Steve at least aligns himself with them by using a non-standard Jewish word- shibboleth. It’s not that I doubt Jews are stereotyped but just to be drop dead honest I don’t see any Jews being stereotyped in the way we Southerners are on a daily basis- as illustrated by SlingPoop and Steve here.
How would Jews like it if this question was reversed and someone wrote “if you come down here talking with a New York accent and dressed like a kike, then I can promise you that ppl from all race/ethnic groups will look at you like a moron” or how about “No, the Southerners dislike you just as much as everyone else does. Hop in your Cadillac, drive back to your kibbutz on cinder blocks and sulk about the Holocaust I suppose.

Rachel: I don't know what you mean by testy or being right but you obviously have strong feelings about Baptists in some way. If you wanted to bring up some issues on ANOTHER question I’ll be happy to answer if you contact me about it because I have first hand experience yet I’m not a Christian so there’s no incentive to promote. People on here are getting outside the question because most Southerners are NOT Southern Baptists- that’s just the largest group of Christians among many as there are TONS of different churches in the South. I believe Southern Baptists are found outside the South too so this question was only asking for opinions about Southerners, period.

This is weird because on this post the conversation seems to centre on the assumption that Southerners are either bad Southern Baptists who are anti-Semitic while on the related one that’s up we are good religious types who might be somewhat anti-Semitic but are *okay* since we support this pet project, Israel. Neither is true for most of us (including me) and I’m pretty sure facts (like surveys I’ve seen) will back this up. I do think religious groups have a right to their opinions and freedom of speech to express them (even if I don’t agree with them) but that’s another issue entirely. I’m not sure I’ve ever posted on the R & S category but maybe I should since I’m not stereotypically religious or atheist.

I should issue a disclaimer that I'm talking about life in the Western world- not some place in the Middle East or whatever. That's a whole different ball game.

Ryan: It's not a racist question in the way I phrased it as I was speaking about tendencies (which is why I said GENERALLY) and yes, I've seen plenty of Jews online (esp. Yanks) who scared the hell out of me with what they said about Southerners so that's why I asked. Before,I thought this prejudice was mostly just your average Yankee that did this and was shocked because I thought Jews were *generally* open minded and against all this. It wasn’t just one or two people and I wanted to see how common/unusual this was. Are you saying it's okay if Jews are prejudiced against Southerners yet if one of us says something about Jews we are suddenly anti-Jewish? Sorry I abhor ALL prejudice. A Southerner recently said something racist on here and I CLEARLY distanced myself from him so it’s interesting that some don’t feel the need to do this.

As a Jew from the south I will tell you straight out I like southerners more than Yankees.
I have been in college in New York for the past year and I can tell you while its a nice place to visit, I would never want to raise a family here.
As for southern Baptists while they are often nice people I cannot agree with some of their stances.
It is also uncomfortable discussing religion with them at times.

Do you remember when Southern Baptists made it a special project of theirs to convert Jews? They even printed up a pamphlet on how to do this for their followers. It had some very stereotypical pictures of Jews and was full of erroneous information about Jews. I'm not sure where you are coming from.... Boy! Testy, aren't we? Your opinion about Baptists does not happen to agree with mine...what makes you right and me wrong? Why don't you google Southern Baptists and Jews and see for yourself? No, I don't like or dislike Baptists...I never think about them and don't care about them or what they think. Try again!

Usually the reverse is true. But, I haven't been around a lot of jewish people so I don't know if they say that a lot. A lot of Southern Baptist don't like the Jews because they think they killed Jesus. Southern Baptists are a special kind of zealot.

The only "southerners" that bother me are in fact Southern Baptists, because they are the ones who push jesus the hardest and shadiest. They founded many (if not all) of the so-called "messianic jewish" churches..
For the most part I take individuals as they present themselves, no matter where they are from..

No, the Jews dislike you just as much as everyone else does. Hop in your Camaro, drive back to your trailer home on cinder blocks and sulk I suppose. What's is the deal with your terrible English too? Y'all is the ultimate shibboleth of ignorance and the moment I hear anyone sincerely using that word I stop giving them any credibility. And how come when you mention your opinion you have to throw in an "I reckon" at the end?

I've known quite a few jews, some are/were personal friends. I've never heard or seen any off-color remarks coming from jews about southerners.
Trash like Steve and your first responder, well, that's completely different now, isn't it?

Probably no more or less than non-Jewish people.
I believe most rude and infamatory stuff you find in Answers represents a handful of bored people trying to provoke reactions, as opposed to a representing the groups they claim to represent.

Most Northerners don't think highly of Southerners because they lump them all as rednecks.....You ppl keep wanted to put a specific race or ethnic group as being responsible for all your problems....if you hit up NYC talking with a southern draw and dressed as a redneck, then I can promise you that ppl from all race/ethnic groups will look at you like a moron

No no longer all Russians hate individuals, they only don’t like it while human beings say, “Ha ha we won the chilly conflict!” I recommend don’t bypass over to Russia and commence speaking politics, don’t protest the two. I recommend its no longer as undesirable because it was, yet its no longer thoroughly democratic the two. additionally once you talk politics it makes you look impolite and caught up, its merely the way Europeans are. anyhow, don’t boast approximately your united states of america too plenty and how unfastened it is, merely like in united statesa., Russians have not uncomplicated lives too, plenty are wealthy, plenty are destructive. handle them like human beings, and you’ll get alongside merely high-quality.
