I realize you may not be attracted to men and I have no problem with your sexual proclivities. Same goes for Gay men, it's your lives and I have nothing but respect for your choice. However I do notice what I believe to be a deep rooted hatred for men. Surely not every man you ever came in contact with was an a**hole. I don't notice this same hatred of women in Gay men. Without resorting to calling me names and trying to at least give the impression of some sort of civility, would someone answer this?

I am a practicing witch and I was wondering what others of you will be doing to celebrate Yule tomorrow? Lighting a Yule log? Or will you encorporate Yule into the more traditional Xmas day to make things easier for X-tians in your family? Do people, not just Pagans, separate the 2 days (21st = Yule, 25th = Xmas day)?

However you celebrate it, Happy Holidays!

I'm a faithful LDS, I'm impressed by how many people on this forum think that by telling me or others that they are going to hell believe that they will actually earn a convert to their ranks.

Putting down another person's faith is wrong, I served an LDS mission and it helped me understand how to share the gospel effectively. The more love and understanding you show, the nicer it is and easier it is to be accepted and leave a good impression. Most people will like you, and love you back and even JOIN YOUR CHURCH, and follow your example.

I have found way too many harrasments like, Mormons are a cult. They are going to hell, and they are not Christians.

I try to follow Christ sincerely everyday of my life, I get down on my knees and ask to be forgiven, I ask Christ to apply his atonement to my life, and I feel His love and His support and His spirit. I have a testimony of the restoration.

Bottom line is invite don't offend. Your offenses give Christ and religion a bad name.

Muslims are muslims and will remain such. Christians are christians and will remain so. Some are atheists, some are agnostics, etc. Some may change whithin...

But in the end, what is the point of discussing this, if most of the 'faiths' base their beleif in just that, faith.....so discussion is irrelevent---because if you have faith in your religion, then its based on faith, and discussion cannot sway you to another faith. Besides, 'God' can take many defintions--so how can you discuss 'God' if he is already pre-defined by faith? God is defined in 'general', as a 'higher power' than ourselves---this could mean a number of things: a concious entity, it could mean a cosmic force that orders the Universe, it could mean 'the way' as described by taoism...

so what is the point of discussing religion? when all definitions are tied to faith---and most of it is irrelevent in that we cannot prove anything...therefore, discussion is irrelevent.

For an art project I have to design five book jackets based on a socety of the future. The designing part is not my main problem. It's the lack of ideas for the front covers is my problem at the moment. I have to invent five laws or beliefs in which my society of the future will have. I was thinking of basing my society on the moon and having a government like the monster raving looney party as the group that set the laws. The laws or beliefs don't have to be serious. If anyone has some ideas for what made up laws I could do I will be so very grateful. Thanks

If the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit each have their own mind and personality, then they have to be three Gods! If on the other hand, they have but one mind between them, then WHO was running the universe while Jesus was a baby? It CAN'T have be the Father or the Holy Spirit, unless they have separate minds and therefore count as separate individuals! Also, Jesus said that the time of His return wouldn't be known "by the angels, nor the Son, but the Father only..." Doesn't this PROVE they can't all be the same guy...?

First here's my thought or point of view on the subject. John the Divine in Revelation Chapter 1:4 says.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven “Spirits” which are before his throne;

Here we have the “First” of a series of “Sevens” that are mentioned in the book of Revelation. There is a reason for this. Nothing God does is by accident!

Seven is the key number of this book, as well as other scripture recordings. When you find seven of anything in the Bible, it is a symbol of Completeness, Perfection or Plenitude.

John says…. The Seven Spirits, which are before God throne.

This, I believe is the “Spirit” of God in the plenitude of His being.

It can be seen in Isaiah the Prophet’s recordings of Chapter 1:1-2, concerning his prophecy of the birth of Jesus, and the Spirit coming upon Messiah, here we read.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him
The Spirit of Wisdom
The Spirit Understanding
The Spirit of Counsel
The Spirit of Might or Power
The Spirit of Knowledge
The Spirit of Fear of the Lord

This is the prophecy Jesus, alludes to in Luke 4:16-21 where we read.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

So the Seven Spirit’s is the Holy Spirit in His Fullness.

do you get the sense that those whole believe in LITERAL translations of the Bible (the born again fundamentalist types) are overwhelmed by questions here which expose huge logic holes in their viewpoint of the world, as they try to scramble to answer the onslaught on their myopic viewpoints and opinions? Do you detect a sense that they can't deal logically with all this, so they just resort to quoting scripture when lost for an answer that makes any sense?
