I can't agree with your LDS doctrine, but I sure respect your attitude. You are absolutely right, and we do need to check our holier-than-thou attitude when talking to others about the gospel. There is no need to deliberately offend someone, and there are many other ways to show concern for the souls of others without resorting to the old "You're going to hell!" routine. I have to agree with you 100%. I try to not put down anyone's faith and I don't ridicule them for their religious beliefs, even when I disagree. Christ taught us to "speak the truth in love" and your post was a dead -center bullseye.
As I said, I can't agree with your doctrine, but I applaud your wisdom and attitude. Thank you for reminding us.

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality Christianity
and I really like your question. I sense sincerity from what you write and would like to offer some comments. First of all, it seems to me that you believe that all people are, or could be, like you (the same).
If you studied Rational Spirituality (available on the Dhaxem website) you would realise that every person is different, and we all are at different levels of our advancement. A fundamentlist Christian may say that we all are a different way away from heaven. Some are closer, some are very far, and some will never make it. This needs to be accepted and respected.
Just as you suggest that a positive example offers a better attraction than intimidation, it needs to be equally recognised that some people simply cannot be positive. Being positive, considerate, caring and loving is the sign of a more advanced Soul.
Sweetheart, you are in the minority. Many others, even if they tried, they could simply not act and think like you.
Have a nice day. I am sure that Christ can see into your pure heart, and loves you for it.

Yes, I agree with you, mostly. Love is a strong attraction and the beauty of Christ is really what should draw sinners. You sound like a very sincere person and I am sure that you have helped many people. God Bless you for that and I know God must be using you for His work. However, there are a small percentage of folks that the Love of God does not motivate them and for some the fear of Hell may give them pause to think. Hell , is a reality and to not share the knowledge of it with some folks may do them more harm than good. I prefer to talk about the love of God and actually it has only been on Yahoo that I see the subject of hell come up so often.

I have no qualms telling a Mormon(LDS), a Jehovahs Witness they will go to hell. If someone told me I would go to hell, we can open a Bible and discuss it- not run away when I DO open a Bible to discuss what they took out of context- which is what LDS is all about (No YOU cannot be a god, or equal with God. NO- You cannot earn a ticket to heaven with your actions but through genuine Faith. NO, there are no gold tablets, and no other books written after the Bible -like that silly 'book of mormon' - that are the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, which God said would be his last direct written Word).
Funny...I see Mormons who believe a facade of a perfect life is the best example for fear of ex-communication from the church...

Because that is all they know "unless you are (their version of) 'SAVED' you are going to hell!"
It is sort of funny because they have no right or authority to even suggest who is "going to hell" and who isn't! They just think that by them accepting Christ as their Savior they are safe...and there is SOOOOO much more to exaltation than the acceptance.
*And to Purd2: YES we have the potential be a god, not equal with God. YES we all can "earn a ticket to heaven with our actions", for they are written in the book of life...YES there are translated golden tablets and YES the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on the earth!
The gospel is true, it is wonderful, it is full of blessings - eternal family and exaltation in the Celestial Kingdom being #1 for me.
I am sorry Purd that you feel it necessary to put others down just to make yourself feel better.

Conversion was first carried out by threats and by force ( Crusade ) when more number of people join the religion , the church's income through thithes increase . Religions are the forerunners of the political parties and so the Churches were keen on increasing their membership so that they can exert great power over the government . without any real responsibility and inseparability. The governments have to employ lot of people to collect taxes and are answerable to the people who pay taxes as it has to perform certain tasks in return for the taxes paid . But the churches do not have to employ collectors and the members pay voluntarily for Fear of /God and they are also not answerable to the people who pay the tithes .At the same time the churches can wield great influence on the polity because of its vast membership of people . It is a strong political party. This is the motive in the drive for membership by he Churches and they resort to all kinds of tactics for his .

I am quiet impress at times whenever a person use hell and fire to convince me to baptize. If that is the only logical factor that they have to convince me then it make know sense. I think that some of these so call "Christians" are trying to let people have a very bad picture of God, To tell you the truth some of them don't even know what they are doing. I am convince that if a true christian teach the love of God this is enough to convince even the worse of sinners and you cannot use fire to fight fire, there is absolutely know logic behind that. don't it?

Christ gave us by way of the Disciples only one task; to pass on the Good news.
It's not our job to convert. We simply need to tell a person that there is a way to Go to Heaven.
The rest is up to the persons heart. - It's as simple as that.

Christians only have one Book, the Bible, and it speaks of Hell more often than it does heaven. In Jude verse 23, the Bible says, "And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire." The world needs to know there's a Hell, as well as a Heaven.... and so do you Mormon.

Well I think ultimately we don't win anything, we just really want others to be saved from hell. If you can for a moment picture that there is a hell then you would see why we wouldn't want you to go there. We're trying to help... not hurt.
