Is there a custom of religion or tradition when they spread ashes over the earth or sprinkle in their garden or land? Is this the custom of Indians, Japanese or orientals. What does the custom means. After reading responses to a previous question, a fellow user suggested that I could purchase a bottle of liquor for my father as a Christmas present. Considering that he likes a good swig of liquor now and then, I am open to suggestions. What type of liquor, if any, do you consume around Christmas? Many of my Muslim friends claim that Islam was the first religion/movement to cry out to end slavery, yet I found many prophetic statements told by prophet Muhammad that support slavery. Prophet Muhammad himself used to have many slaves, including at least TWO concubines (sex slaves).

Also, I could not find any single verse in the Quran that orders people to end slavery. Furthermore, Saudi Arabiya (the country where Islam was born) was among the latest countries to end slavery (officially ended in 1962).

Does nayone have any explanation for the contradiction?

quite worker we have. She is very nice and polite, but shares little of her personal life with others, infact I was shocked to find out she particapated( I asked, just to be sure no one put her name in without her knowledge)..But what does one buy for some one in my case? I don't want to pry into her life, yet I want to buy her some thing nice and something she'll like...

She's a married woman about 40, maybe late 30's..and has two boys..One in HighSchool, the other in Middle school..

it seems that a lot of people think they are special little children of god who are looked after every minute of every day, and they have "the truth" that nooobody else has this so they are above other people. I think the sooner people realize that humans are just another animal that we can get along better, happy hanukkah.
