Besides the usual drunken party, we are looking for something different to do. Might be a small group of us or just me and the bf, any thoughts?

OK -- this is something that I did last year when I was still a Long-Term Single Parent (this year -- FINALLY -- I am an Empty-Nesting Retiree):
I took the (now) adult children, their friends, and me, paid for the Reservations/Tickets, and on my Military Post -- (and even in the community), there was a New Year's Party that was a combination Buffet/LaserStorm Bowling -- and for one price -- you got the Sodas, the Food, the Bowling and Shoes, and you were able to purchase/consume the other beverages IF you were of Legal Age (and you had to have a special Arm Band to do that).
This was a FUN event -- and everyone definitely enjoyed it tremendously. It was DIFFERENT -- but instead of a Drunken Party -- people were having fun bowling, playing games for little trinkets (like noisemakers), and it was just LOTS of FUN overall.
