The importance of family is undeniably expressed in many ways by Homer throughout “The Odyssey” using characterization, Odysseus, through his nostalgic feelings while on Ogygia and when in the underworld where he wept when he saw his dead mother, Telemachos, through his brave journey to find out about his missing father, and Penelope, through her plan to deceive the suitors to not marry her yet and by her constant weeping for Odysseus and Telemachos.

Its smarter to trust God, don't you think? I mean its clear that many details are not included. And if God is not good, then why is there so much good in the world? God provided for us many good things that we need to live.

If you do say no, doesn't that reveal a high level of intolerance.

Atheists have been voting for christian presidents for years.

I f I was to suggest that the quoran is a lie I would be faced with death threats and violence, yet if I said the same things about the bible or the torah then I would be confronted with arguments and debate about why these books are relevent to our lives? does this mean that mohamed is insecure yet jesus and moses do not feel threatened by questioning God/Allah?

I spent most of my adolescent years in the northern New Jersey suburb where my parents still live. My younger brother is 17 this year, going to the same high school I did. As public schools go, it's a pretty good one and I certainly remember being challenged academically there. Still, it's easy to get stuck in the routines of going to school and going to church, just as I did at his age.

Ever since I went away to college (I'm almost 25 now), I've sent my brother books which I hope will encourage him to explore, teach him new things, and remind him to think for himself. And of course, to enjoy. The first one, "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!", remains one of my favorites.

What book do you wish someone had given you when you were a teenager? How do you think it would have changed you?

I posted an answer that offended a wiccan, and she threatened to turn me in to the yahoo authorities, saying they would censor me. It seems to me that if she believed in what she professes she would not have to whimper to Yahoo, she would cast a spell to make me accept her beliefs, or at least stop me from challenging them. Funny how some people who cherish their own freedom of speech try to censor others, and in the process expose themselves as hypocrites.

I am looking for some creative and original gifts that I can make here from home to give to my relatives and friends. I need gift ideas for my grandma, my brother who is 27, my sister who is 23, my mom and dad. If you have any ideas they are welcome. And, if you have a website that you got it from that would be even better. Thank you so much.

Please be detailed and tell me your account as it happened.
How did it happen initially? Were you aiming for that end or was it something that was unexpected? Please be detailed about methods you may have used to induce this state, include your whole experience. Thanks!

How many of you are totally annoyed with that statement and think that it stunts and cripples the development and growth of most people.

I know someone who's a really nice sweet person, however he believes that he's paying for his father's sins. This thought makes him accept his life situations and not "believe" that he can do better for himself. We all know that negative thoughts and lack of self-assurance brings negative results.

I feel so angry at the ones who program these thoughts into the minds of children so much that they go through their entire lives living in fear!

Hi. I'm 18 years old, I got saved at 12, and I've been active in church Youth groups and so on. Today, a girl in my group told me that the beleif is rising that Jesus was an alien. And she and a guy gave me this site for reference.
http://www.webcity.com.au/jesusalien/
I personally don't care if he was an alien or not. But the whole concept is kind of frightening. Is this true?

Well , this ones little bit " Ambitious" , but i had to capture the mood of a confused person( depressed) who is into drugs and cannot come out of it and he sees the world in his own way!!

Dear Diary (moral dilemma)

Drugs, booze and rock galore
And here I am all alone
In a world that obsessively preaches
But cannot see that “itself” changes

Marmalade sky and tangerine dreams
Always takes me to those high seams
In a world full of hate and deceit
I find peace under its feet

And, Who are you to say I m wrong?
When your own life speaks for you like a gong!!
Aloud it yells and tells your secrets
Which you always try to hide and suppress

And for me, is it not fair??
When I say I had a failed affair
And so what, I have lost my track
I find truth when I am on cocaine and crack

Well, then what is the right way???
But!! Have you ever seen the trees sway ?
To and fro in the wind all day
Do you think our lives are different from them anyway???
