I love this question. It is an honest question and one that needs to be considered. I think if a person is not a genuine Christian and they are not displaying Christian qualities to non Christians then the answer is yes. A known Christian in a community who is seen as immoral encourages athiest to stay away. It encourages them to cling to the false notion that the majority of Christians are fake and hypocritical.

Improbable. An atheist is someone who has existed throughout history no more so now than when Jesus walked the earth. A true christian should by his actions show that there is a part of God living inside himself namely the Holy Spirit. Confronting that reality is tough for many people and even more so for some Christians. Even Jesus said some people were too hard hearted to ever believe. True Christianity forces people to choose between God and the world and most still choose the wide road rather than the narrow Way.

Well, I'm an atheist and thats partly the reason. I lived in a world thats majority Christian. I study the Christian doctrines wondering if they were true. But, then the realization came that why do I want to associate myself with these people? They don't practice what the preach, they don't tolerate anyone, they're arrogant, and they're extremely ignorant. So, as a kid Christianity was associated with all the organized religion so I looked in other directions until I found the truth that there is no god.

The leading cause for athiesm or modern new world religions is that people are more informed, they read and research things before running blindly into a faith.
for example:-
When the priest in the church stands there below statues of Marry, jesus and other idolic images and quotes Exodus 20:4
"You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God...."
Some people may think "wait a minute, what are all these statues in the church".
There are other things, like the way priests wear special robes like the scribes and the pharisees did, the fact that churches especially the catholic church has loads of money, even though it is the root of all evil.
There is truth out there, but not the truth MEN make up to control others.

No, I think athiest are the leading cause of atheism. I also think there are few if any real athiest. Because if you were really one the concept of God would be so ridiculous it wouldn't even need to be mentioned. I heard someone say the other day on NPR the only real answer to God is I don't know.

Their are probably different reasons why people have chosen to become atheists. One big reason I believ as the bible teaches the pleasures of sin for a season. It's alot easier to break rules if you try and deny they exist. It would be aot easier to sleep with whoever you wanted to by denying any acountability to God or anyone. I am not suggesting about this about all athiests but some have been honest enough to admit as much.

Yes I do, not only is the Bible absurd on many of it's stories, some Christians use the most irrational logic to justify these stories. Sometimes I get offended because it seems like an attack on my intellect, like they are messing with me or something, or maybe they just look at me and think I am dumb enough to believe such a poorly designed lie.

No, but they are being disciplined in the USA as they have not fulffilled their responsibility. They need to study the Word of God, Pray and partake of the Sacrament. IF you met someone that studied "the thruth rightly divided" you would like them. God to me is like the mellow hippie dude of the 70's, he has a great sense of humor, but he does discipline Christians like a loving father would.

no, we aren't the leading cause of atheism, besides, there's no such thing as atheism, there is no one in this world that knows everything or can prove everything in the Bible to be wrong, so basically they're called agnostic and Christians are not the cause for others decisions

No. I think it's false prophets, the Life Enhancement philosophy of churches and horrible teaching. This leads to followers behaving contrary to what the bible says...and those who come into contact with them feeling disgusted and discouraged.
We're to be representatives of Christ here on earth and if we're following false prophets and doctrines, we're doing nothing more than alienating people from Christ.
