According to the "projection theory", we developed religion out of a need to defend ourselves against the crushing superior forces of nature. As a child needs a father for protection, so we feel the need to create a protector God.

For the record, I'm Catholic, so I'm not trying to put down Christians in general by any means.

Here is what I'm confused about (and I'm already aware that this is a dangerous question): We all know there are some Christians or Baptists or whoever they may be who are completely against homosexuality. They say that the Bible states that it is wrong. But-aren't these people violating one of the most important commandments-to love your neighbor? If people have hatred toward homosexuals and they claim that they are just following the Bible, aren't they contradicting themselves? I'm really not trying to sway people's opinions toward one side or the other with this question. I just want some thoughts/clarification on it. Please be considerate toward both groups-I'm not trying to start anything.

when we do and say the things in the Bible that people don't like?

Everyone wants Christians to love their neighbor with out sharing the gospel-which is what Jesus did

We are not supposed to judge, but we are supposed to say the homosexuality is okay-when God calls it an abomination

Do people want the good without the not-so-good?

(I don't like everything in the Bible, but I try to do what it tells me to do)

I have seen hundreds of Q & A's on here about religion. Im not attacking believers, but the people who find it necessary to tell the world why they are right and others are wrong- no matter what relaigion it is.
Religion (not spiritualism)was invented as a political tool to control the masses, and now has become the biggest killer in history. Is it not time everybody got off their high horse and took personal responsibilty, instead of 'following' or doing a 'gods work'?

Why do people value humanity more than animals, and in the same breath go on(and on) about not being cruel to animals, and treating them better than they sometimes treat themselves?

If people stopped seperating themselves from the world, accepted that the world DEPENDS on life and death, kindness and cruelty, and stopped forcing human IDEALS on non-human animalkind things would be much better off. Don't you think?

Sillyness...time is better spent talking of sealing wax...but, doesn't it come down to the basic Undeniable FACT that humans are animals. So we fight and **** and feed. Nothing about that is any worse than when a lion does it....it is finding MODERATION that is the human responsibilty...and that is a personal thing, not legislative. True?

Ask him what did the ancient Jews do when fellow Jews came around to their homes trying to convert them to what clearly was a religious cult started by an itinerant preach who was lawfully crucified for refusing allegiance to the government, and spreading false doctrine among God's People?

Clearly, it was wrong of these early Jewish Christians to be bothering their fellow Jews at their homes, as well as out in public. If people wanted to know anything about this new religion, or even wanted to join the cult, they would have gone to the new churches and asked.

A Rabbi could give good examples of what those who truly were God's People did about religious door knockers.

Why is it people are questioning Jesus's deity because he was like a human? To be honest. The faith's that believe in Christ are unique. He is the only God to have come from heaven to earth. Hindus andothers haven't. He is the only God to feel our pain. he is the only God who died for us and he is the only God who fulfilled prophecies. On a side note

I've noticed that atheist tend to look worn down and tired with wrinkles and scars like they're carrying their own burden. On the other hand those who believe in Christ don't lok like this. This is on a bell curve not plain as day seen there are extreme cases but the majority seem TO ME AT LEAST to turn out like that how come?

I smoke a lot of weed (please dont judge me. i dont have a criminal record, i have a good job, and im saving up money for college. im almost 20.) but is cannibis a stimulant or depressant? or somewhere in between? Look at this graph on wikipedia. they lable weed and THC as somewhere in between being a stimulant, depressant, and psychedelic. it must be a little of all of these. scroll down on the page a little to view the graph.

This non-sense that we call each other the N word is ridiculous. Are you around black people and if so are in the hood or something. I have never used that word to anyone and neither have my friends.. I have friends from every race and never used a derogative name to any of them.

If what the black comics say really offend you speak up. There is a history with the N word. I'm not sure if it's age or just a callousness that makes anyone not see, those words have a real negativity behind them.

I do wish the rap industry would stop using the altered version of the N word, but I doubt that would stop a racist from being a racist and use the word anyway.

I am not looking for validation from anyone and I encourage every black person and anyone else to have the same attitude. I am proud to be a productive citizen.

We took Christ out of Christmas, now it's Happy Holidays.
We took God out of the Schools, now they are running ammuck.
We have now decided to take the Pilgrims and Indians out of Thanksgiving and make it a show down.
To little kids are we not making things just a little too harsh, the world is harsh, yes, but this is getting really out of control.
And people are very sad and unhappy anymore, the jobs aren't there because "we didn't want to work" and we don't.
The kids are a mess because mom and dad are both having to work.
Things are way to expensive and there is no end in sight, but our checks aren't getting any better.
What can we do to make it better and easier for our children and their children to live in this mess we have made for them.
Have any suggestions as to how to make the holidays better and regain some of the old traditions that came from years ago?
Just thinking.....
