when we do and say the things in the Bible that people don't like?

Everyone wants Christians to love their neighbor with out sharing the gospel-which is what Jesus did

We are not supposed to judge, but we are supposed to say the homosexuality is okay-when God calls it an abomination

Do people want the good without the not-so-good?

(I don't like everything in the Bible, but I try to do what it tells me to do)

keeping: I'm a christian, and I think that sometimes, - more often than not, we Christians tend to be a "little" too dogmatic. We need to learn to say less than we think at times and leave the judging and correcting for Jesus to do, concerning the unconverted, irregardless of their life styles. I'm not, nor neither, was a homosexual, but read in the Holy Bible [New Testament] where Jesus says that "even the men of Sodom and Gommohra will stand up in judgement against this evil generation". Why would Jesus even, make reference to carriers of this life-style ? Us Christians sometimes, tend to list sexual sins as the more "major" sins while lying, cheating failure to exercise God's love to others ... somehow, "isn't THAT bad" . We need to be careful and leave the converting of the unconverted to Jesus [God] . Make no mistake about it. I am not justifying anyone's wrong against God [sin] behavior. We need to consider ourselves as christians, and remember that "God for so loved the world, He sent His only begotten Son. " God never sent His Son, Jesus into the world to condemn it - but to SAVE it. Our job as Christians is to not do as the world does but to live as Jesus lived, preach the Gospel [Good News - not bad] and leave the rest up to God. Loving our neighbour is NOT pointing out to them their sins - that's God's job ! We all need to be aware of the "leaven" of the Pharasees, which is SELF- righteousness, as our Master, Jesus forewarned us about. This will only serve to "close up the Kingdom of God from men" - not open it! GRACE via FAITH expressed in works of love towards God and neighbour is the "order" of the day. - Amen.

Part of the problem is this 'us and them' way of looking at the world. I don't "do what the bible tells me to do" so I'm a heathen by default. I think it's ignorant to hide your pride behind a book, but I don't have a problem with Christians spreading the gospel either--as long as it IS the gospel and not who I should vote for. You have to admit there are some truly evil 'Christians' out there. Can you blame people for making the mistake in thinking all of them are head-cases? Didn't you just make a sweeping generalization yourself? I don't mean to be harsh, but when politics gets infused with religion, the masses are going to assume the worst.

Really I think it has to do with what Christians appear to be hateful about. I'll first state that I am a Christian but when I wasnt, these were things I hated about Christians.

(I know now it's not the same for all Christians however, usually the most nasty of us are the ones who are heard most)

Many Christians will rant and rave about homosexuality, yes the Bible says it is an abomination punishable by death but so is adultery. Jesus said that remarriage was adultery but no one says diddly about remarriage.

Many Christians think its more important to tell people about their sins than to emphisise their good qualities. There is nothing worse than to be catagorized by what you do wrong when you do try to do the right things usually.

Many Christians talk out both sides of their mouth, they claim you only need faith in Christ to be saved yet, someone who is still sinning isnt saved?? Hmmmm thats a biggy

Many Christians dis their own people. They all love Jesus yet, think you need to see it their way or you're lost.

Many Christians try to justify bad behavior by picking and choosing certain scriptures and wont listed to anything that may put it into a different context.

Many Christians claim to follow Jesus, but He didnt like to hang out with the "righteous" people, He liked hanging out with the tax collectors and prostitutes. Not for His own gain but so even those unloved by humanity can see they are loved by God. "Christians" would rather exclude such people from their circles.

There are many reasons bro... I am not saying this in disrespect but from what I have learned on the outside, combined with what Ive learned on the inside...

Peace

Basically, it's a problem of logic. I don't like asking someone if god exists, only to be pointed toward the Bible. That's not proof; it's circular reasoning.

I want someone to explain to me why they believe god exists without a single mention of the Bible.

I also think a lot of Christians use their religion to hate. You cannot believe that a) God created everything and that b) God condemns homosexuals. It's not logical. If God created everything, that means god created homosexuals, spam, belly button lint, pedophiles, butterflies, EVERYTHING. How can a god create something, then condemn it? And how can anyone who believes in god then condemn someone for who they are?

Also, a lot of Christians that I've met feel absolutely bent on converting me. Here's my thing: I'm educated (at least formally). I've spent a lot of time thinking and reading, and I've come to my beliefs in the same way that everyone else has. So, leave me alone. I'm not trying to convert you to not believe, so let it go.

I'm not sure that answers the question. I started ranting. My apologies.

People can read for themselves if they want to see what the bible says, we do not need Christians forcing it on us.

Jesus never went to people and preached to them against their will. Read the bible and you will find that people came to Jesus.

Not accepting homesexual behaviour is one thing, but trying to force everyone else to do same is against God's will and plan. Study history and you will find that in Jesus day homesexuality was the accepted norm and when it came to unbeleivers, Jesus, nor his apostles said anything to them or tried to force their will on unbeleivers, but rather told the believing Christians that homesexuality is sinful, but so is fornication, and adultry. God looks at all sin the same so homesexuality is not the unforgivable sin that christians make it out to be. Gluttony is just as sinful as homesexuality, but how many Christians are against gluttony?

We want Christians to say less with their mouths and say more with their lives, the same way Jesus and the apostles did. The bible is written to believers and thus if you followed the example of the bible writers you and others would share your christianity with other Christians and by living the life you were called to live, more people would come to Christ.

Well, if you try to do what it says, then please start by living a good life and stop preaching to those who do not want to hear. I challenge you to show me one scripture where Jesus forced his will on anyone. Or preached to anyone who did not want to hear it. It is not there. I know people did not want to hear what Jesus said, but they went to him, he did not go to them.

A good start would be to be the best employee your company has, never speed, and stop at all red lights and stop signs and do what Jesus would do, don't just say WWJD. do what he did, that is live a blamesless life and don't force your beliefs on everyone else. I challenge you to live like you should and I will bet that you will have people come and ask you why you are different, that is what the bible says. If you live the christian life, then you won't have to go to people and force your opinions on them, they will come to you and ask you a reason for the hope in you.

I figure that people pick and choose what to take from the bible. They themselves weigh certain sins heavier than others when in fact they shouldn't be. The act of homosexual intercourse is no more of a sin than telling a white lie or shaving a beard, or whatnot.

Your bible? Your rules. Picking and choosing would likely be sinful. It would be like someone who believed in evolution to think that all animals evolved...except emus. And they'd never talk about emus ever, because they don't like emus and feel they do a disservice to evolution.

I appreciate when Christians are completely honest, because at least I know that they hold their beliefs highly. Afterall, when someone based their opinions fully on religion, what other legs do they have to stand on?

well...it's just that you so-called christians have bad p/r. you have no people skills. you go in for the kill before you even deliver the message. Jesus shakes His head in disbelief everytime you so-called christians run at the mouth about what He supposedly said or meant. and is homosexuality your only beef with the world? there are other 'evils' in the world, yet you are all hung up on this particular 'abomination'? why? is it the umbrella of abominations? hehehe...

oh i wouldn't take it too personally. Christians too get hateful when i say the things from the Bible that they don't like.

as for the examples you give ...

Jesus also said to "shake the dust from your sandals" if your preaching is unwelcome.

nowhere in the Bible does Jesus himself mention homosexuality.

other people are just like you. you pick and chose Bible verse as well and interpret those verses to suit yourself. everyone does. that's why there are so many sects of Christianity.

i hope you don't do too much of what the Bible tells you to do as a lot of it is not only cruel but highly illegal.

some people call themselves christian but are wolves in sheep's clothing. so when certain nations are attacked by a mostly christian populated nation it gives true Christians a bad name.just keep doing what the bible says.love your neighbor by studying the bible with them and preach about Jesus to everyone.

I don't like the intolerance for other people or religion that I find with Christians. Historical destruction is another reason. No one is asking you to say homosexuality is okay, just don't persecute them. They are people too, with the same rights - That's all that they are asking for.
