How can we say the God who walked in the Garden of Eden was a spirit?

I just got done reading that chapter too. I believe it is Genesis 3. After giving into the temptation of the devil, Adam and Eve hear the footsteps of God and they hide out of being scared. God can do anything, so for him to walk in the Garden of Eden is possible. Also, the footstep sounds of God could have been coming from Heaven, and Adam and Eve might have thought that God was actually walking towards them. There's many ways to wonder about your question. Only God can answer it.

The Bible also says that Noah walked with God. How could a human walk in heaven? That doesn't make sense.

The scriptures discuss many faithful ones of old who were considered to have "walked with God." This is in reference to the fact that they followed His commands, obeyed Him and worshipped Him. They were in agreement with Him, if you will.

It is not a literal walking in Genesis, but rather God's presence, influence or interest. Adam "walked" about in the Garden with God not physically, but spent time with Him, communicated with Him and was directed by Him.

Spirits can do that. Seriously, though, why wouldn't God be able to walk in the garden?

Adam and Eve might have HEARD and talked with God, knowing He was there with them though they didn't SEE Him walking there.

OR

He might have walked there, with them, as a Christophany or a Theophany -- similar as to when Abraham saw Jesus on the Plains of Mamre.

When God walked with Adam and Eve, it was before they sinned. After they sinned, He did not allow them to see Him again. As sinners, they could not look upon God and live. You will have to wait like the rest of us for how He did it, but we will indeed know some day.

Easy. God is NOT a spirit. That verse in John was mistranslated. God has a body of flesh and bone as tangible as man's--the Son also. Those who believe that God is a spirit are believing a lie. No prophet ever taught that--it is a man-made doctrine.
