I'm not trying to claim that Thanksgiving is a Christian holiday. It's a time to give thanks so for us Christians we naturally thank the Creator who gives us all good things.

Some of the answers have now presented another question in my mind. Many of you claim to celebrate Christmas and Easter with your families. Does that make you a hypocrite?

Not before you go attacking me I know you say that they were "originally" pagan holidays but they're NOT that now. Christmas is the time when we celebrate Christ's birth. The gifts given are meant to represent the gifts brought to the Christ child by the Wise Men. Easter is when we celebrate His resurrection from the grave. If you celebrate these holidays by gathering with your family isn't that hypocritical?

Many of you denounce us Christians because you say that churches are filled with hypocrites. Aren't you also guilty of that if you celebrate these now religious holidays to any extent?

Jesus says: " No one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."

I think it means you can tell all the people you want about Jesus but they will not accept unless God has allowed their heart to receive it.

Thoughts? I'm a pretty new Christian so easy on me if i'm not correct, please....

thanks

I have 3 beautiful boys ages 3,6 and 13 years old and my husband is in jail. I am doing any work I can find but its not even enough to pay the bills. I am going to loose my home by the end of the month and I have to get another place to live. So money is going to be so tight that I won't even afford to buy any christmas for them. If there is any one that can help it would be greatly appciated. Thank You.

I read in the newspaper that people are boycotting Ford Motor Company and Wal-Mart because they give money to gay rights groups. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on this was and how they reacted to it.

Have you ever had a reading, private or otherwise with Sylvia Browne? Did she get anything really uncanny right that there's no way she could have guessed or made up? Did she say anything *way* off? Please tell if it was a private reading, or if not, where, and as much detail about what she told you, as possible. Thanks!

It seems like as hard as I try (and fail sometimes) to be objective about questions and answers, there is someone that is equally as flippant in offering an answer full of opinion, but no real information (as I said, I'm guilty of it too at times).

Why do you think its so hard to remove emotions from the equation and give advice based on fact instead of feelings?

in the early days of christianity paul of taurus certainly spread word of the gospel with enough convincingness to pull a small segment of people in israel to believe in the story of jesus.
Even in a day when people were especially succeptible to religion, it is no small feat to bring in even a neglible amount of adherents to a faith. Still the spread of christianity was very gradual; not anything remarkable.

then the roman emporer constantine, being converted, stopped the persecution of christians and made it a legal religion. not long after that, emperor theodosius not only retained it legal status, but made all other religions illegal. All pagan temples dismantled or put to other use. It was the only religion you could publicly have. Eventually pagans themselves were persecuted for their faith.

Now, the roman empire, at its peak, was spread across the altlantic including most of Europe, the northern part of Africa, and over half of the middle east. CONTINUES BELOW..

...we've caused you. We've been cruel and judgemental, forgetting that you are no more sinful than we. We are ALL sinners in need of a Savior. I don't understand why we attack you for your lifestyle when we ourselves are guilty of everything from lust, adultery, fornication, lying, stealing, you name it! So, it's unfair that we single you out and condemn you. Please pray for us. We don't realize the harm we're doing. I assure you that I am doing all I can to have my brothers and sisters in the faith recognize our problem. I am asking for your perpetual forgiveness for it seems the problem may never go away. But I for one love you and it is my hope that we all find our way to heaven. I urged you people to forgive us last night and I was delighted with your kind response - but I feel I must continue to ask so that you will be reminded that we are not all gay bashers - some of us have genuine compassion for you and respect and appreciate you for the precious people that you are.
