the parallel universe theory, just like string theory, and bubble universe theory, are simply elaborate "what ifs". but none of these are based off of any empirical data, and are completely unfalsifiable, and therefore unscientific. in fact, this theory actually came from scientists who decided to disregard a generally better established explination of the of von Neumann's quantum collapse postulate.
just in the same sense that, if i lock all my doors and windows, and christmas presents get under my tree, it doesnt mean that santa put them there.
there is too much quantum mechanics for me to explain, but i have a fellow lab student who is doing quantum computing who agrees with me on this point. and this is the general consensus of the scientific community.

Maybe. One interpretation of Quantum mechanics is that everything that could happen does happen, and all those possibilities exist in other realms.
Some Physicists are working a a theory called String theory. If this works out to be true, we live in a universe with 11 dimensions and there are many parallel universes. The big problem with string theory is that it doesn't yield any results that humans can test. Maybe it will in the future.
This is a very simplified explanation.

No one knows. There are theories that predict that we might be able to observe some gravitational effects from "near" parallel universes, but the experiments are difficult to perform and so far there are no results to indicate the presence of a near universes.

My favorite question because I get to dust off the String Theory and put a link to it and you can judge for yourself
11 parallel universes that vibrate and bump each other

String Theory is the new rock star of science just now

Yes, but you'll never get to meet another you.
Sad, isn't it?
You read it in science fiction, didn't you?
Science Fiction is supposed to be a fun way to imagine things in future.
Learn to keep it at that. It's not reality; it's not religion; it's a bit of silliness that someone thought of to have some fun. And everyone has the right to be silly sometimes just to have fun. In my opinion, it's the people who take fiction a little too seriously who've got to start seeing things for themselves.
The only thing that is common in fiction and reality is how people feel about other people. Everything else is imaginary.

Absolutely..... Most assuredly found within.....
When one mind is awake, the other is asleep. and likewise.... is the one asleep the the other awake.....
but, when the body is asleep, what is within becomes the gateway to a universe of another language, and obscure from the waking mind that it nearly disappears......
There is even a scientific example of that universe called: hypnogogic imagery when impossible things are manifest while the body is half aware and half asleep......
