Based on my previous question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApFyUq3aVvuZr8VwxQpp7_vzy6IX?qid=20060718201901AA3CoKP ) I see that most creationists who answered don't know what the word "theory" really means in a scientific context. It doesn't mean, "guess". A theory is: "A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY TESTED.”
With that being said, do creationists also reject the theory of gravity? Or the theory of electromagnetic waves? Or what about the theory that the earth revolves around the sun?

When you pray to god to give you courage or strenght, its not him that does it. You give that to yourself. When you think "i prayed for a good day today, so it must be true", you really do have a good day, but god didn't give it to you. Your mind is focused on positive things because you believe your day is going to be great. If you believe you're happy, it is true.Praying for other people certainly does not work at all. They will do what they please wether you pray or not. And if it just so happens that it does work, its either a coincidence or because you talked them into whatever you thought is right (which is so typical of christians). If you pray to god that you can survive after an accident, and you do, it isnt because you prayed, it is because you believed you will survive. Its not god's power that helps you, its the power of your mind. Praying will not get you anywhere. Weak minded people need to pray because otherwise, they don't believe in themselves. But what about the rest?

If you are not a true student of the term, "Gnosis", please do not bother to answer this question. Yes, I know all about the simple Christian misrepresentations of the Gnostics. Who among you has actually bothered to read the Nag-Hammadi texts?

Does anyone else think it's really sad that there are so many people who cannot spell and/or use proper grammar? I mean, I can understand a few errors, but some of the questions on here look like a drunk 4 year old typed them out. Is it just me, or are people getting dumber by the minute? It's really sad. Is spelling class not offered in grade school anymore?

I have only been with the company for about 4 months and one of the employees on my shift, his wife was due to give birth next week. But over the weekend they lost the baby suddenly. The entire pregnancy everything was fine and he was especially excited about the coming birth of his daughter. This employee does not exactly report to me directly. There is another supervisor he reports to but I am also responsible for this employee. I have worked on occasion with this person. I feel absolutly terrible for him and his wife and thier loss. I want to show my support for them but I do not want to intrude. A lot of his co-workers are attending the funeral tomorrow along with at least one supervisor that I know of. What is the protocol for this? I don't want to go and get the "thats the supervisor just doing his job" statements. My sympathy is real. But I don't want to not show up and have them say why wasn't he here? Help what do I do?

Every time we go out anywhere, non-English speaking people always come up to me and need help with something (directions, translating street signs, etc). I figured it happened to everyone all the time but my friend is sitting here teasing me about it. She says even other people's pets who normally hate everyone love me. It's true though I'm not complaining - I love the interactions with so many amazing people. Like one time a guy from Nigeria was trying to order lunch in a cafeteria but couldn't articulate what he wanted. I happened to walk by and he sort of grabs my arm and asks for help. The waitress was getting pretty frustrated (it was really busy, as I recall). After that we dated for a few months! Another time a guy at a gas station was trying to put gas in his rental car. He spoke no English at all, but I had no trouble understanding him. It was awesome! There were at least a dozen other people around and some of them were closer to him. Please tell my friend this is normal!

I had an argument with a friend over something stupid but I think she and I both said some things that were offensive. I tried to apologize and move forward but she is ignoring me. I feel really hurt now and I didn't even start this argument. How do I move forward and past this hurt?

I see people posting their answers as "This is inappropriate. You have been reported." It all seems a little ridiculous.
