what are some ways that I can improve my self confidence?

I've had a pretty long history with this. I still have an issue with my appearance. I had a slight case of anorexia back in high school that went on for a couple of months...now I believe i have muscle dysmorphia (but i never go the lengths of using steroids). I just never feel happy with who I am.

I think that I am afraid of humiliation. Whenever the teacher goes around the room asking everyone a question...I get very nervous knowing that it is my turn to speak. If I were ever to go to an acting class..i would probably faint. Whenever I am in a large crowd...i feel like everyone is paying attention to me. So when I walk in that area..I'm not relaxed.

I got up to turn off the heater and went back to bed and had a dream that I was in the same exact building to the dream I was having before I woke up, like a continuation of the same dream.

Well, what if I am suicidal and I would have someone kill me as my preference? Am I then allowed to kill morally?

Or what if I enjoy being urinated on? Do I "do unto others as I would have them do unto me?"

Thats why G-d's Laws are superior to this idea of morality.

Thoughts? Answers?

I find myself being cynical lately. Life is hard, work is hard, and sometimes I just get fed up with the nastiness I see in people. What inspires you? What do you do, or what do you say to change your frame of mind around? How do keep a positive outlook?

If so, how do you stop looking for approval from the world. How do you become more internally defined then outwardly?
Serious intellectual answers only please.

I've been wondering about life, and people and so on and I came upon that fact that the human race needs violence to keep going. Yes you might say "But the monks do not fight!" but it was violence that brought them the need to be peaceful. Violence taught them what was behind door number 2. But anyway back to the question.

Who would you fight?
as it's said "You know a man best when you meet blades"

Considering that its fact that very short men have much harder lives than the general population (make less money, date much much less - if at all, or remain an involuntary virgin for life) - would any of you abort your MALE son if you knew that he was only going to grow up to 5'4" or shorter? Researchers in Sweden have found that short men are most at risk for suicide anyways-

I wish my father never had kids with my mother. Height is almost always passed on through the womens side. My mother is only 5'0" and my father is 5'10" - I have to suffer my mothers genetic sins and live my life at 5'4". I'm a 23 year old Stanford psych student who has never dated and chances are I will never date due to my repulsive height. Women say that height is not important - but thats not at all true - height is everything and now I have to suffer as a 5'4" cripple.

And please, no "god" or "Jesus" answers - those concepts are rationally meaningless.

on one hand,You have one a person who your heart absolutly melts for,and in the other hand you have a perosn that melts for you. which would you choose? My grandmother always said,"you should always choose the one that loves you more one that you love, its always better for them to love you more."
So what happens to the one that your heart beats for, repress them? Ignore it? forget it?

People seem really indifferent to me. I know they don't hate me because I'm really nice to everybody but I'm also very quiet and shy and can't talk to people much, I think I have that social anxiety disorder. Like I always seem like I'm the last one they pick to talk to or be in a group, and it's not like they don't like me they respect me it's just they seem really indiffernet. I have an easier time talking to people and they seem to like talking to me, just small talk, when its just me and another person in a room. But it seems like if someone else is in a room, just one other person, they just start to have a conversation with them, barely acknowledging I'm there. I mean they don't mind if I say something but it's just like they forgot about me. It's wierd because half the time you think people like you and half the time you're worried they hate you. They really do like me though for the most part, it's just like they forget about me sometimes, like I'm not last choice because they hate me I'm last choice just because they;re just closer to other people. They don't feel uncomfortable with me because they know I won't judge them. I mean I don't really want close relationships with people, honestly, but I don't know, I just like to have small talk with people sometimes or just a little more respect or something. But I suppose it's sort of my fault too. Is anyone else like this?

My daughter is 16 years old, and you're going to laugh, but I'm seriously worried about her and the way she thinks. She's always been very independent minded and intelligent, but I don't think she's putting those traits to good use. She has no empathy with ANYBODY. When she heard on the news about a man going on a killing spree by running pedestrians over with an SUV, she found that funny. She doesn't see why people cry over hungry children. She steals, lies, and never feels any guilt whatsoever. She actually stole a wallet from a man in a wheelchair! She says the only reason she would never murder anybody is because it's illegal and she doesn't want to go to prison. She is OBSESSED with the movie Natural Born Killers (I found an online blog she was trying to keep from me - saying Mallory and Mickey were the perfect couple.) Also obsessed with Grand Theft Auto and guns...for the "power" they hold. She has never had friends. I tried grounding her, but is it a mental illness??

I go to a store, and the cashier can't add unless the register tells him/her the answer. I call the company, and the service person can't fulfill my request because there is no computer option for it. The telemarketer calls me but can't answer my question because it's not in the computerized script. Everybody knows computers are dumb but still treats them like they're gods. Why are we so welcoming of this and letting our brains atrophy?
