Well, Freud was a great synthesizer of popular ideas that were going around during his era. He popularized the concept of an unconscious. Many theories that exist today are either evolutions of Frued's original theories or retaliation or counters to his theory.

Jung, although often overlooked, contributed the idea of a collective unconscious--an interesting concept. His approach to therapy tends to benefit the elderly who are in need of spiritual meaning in their lives.

Rogers contributed a lot to modern counseling. In particular, the three core conditions--unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruency--are all crucial components to positive therapeutic outcomes. Although I don't believe that these conditions are *sufficient* for successful therapy, I do believe they are necessary.
