Many times in my life (I'm over 50) people who I have just met socially, or strangers I will only encounter once ask questions that even a close friend wouldn't ask? For example, when they find out I fought in Vietnam, (you guessed it) they ask "Did you kill anyone?" This is why I try not to advertise this stuff. I've heard things like " Are those real?" asked to a girl, and many more. Why do so many ask questions like this when most don't care anyway?

please diagnose this person. I suspect he has antisocial personality disorder as classified by the DSM-IV, but he doesn't seem irritable or hostile to me, though he claims to beat people up.
his quirks:
he is always late, if he shows up at all
he is always wanting something from me
he never reciprocates a kindness, like buying me a coffee back
he always says how handsome he is and believes it
he has a mona lisa smile and his eyes look "blank" sometimes
he tries to appear educated by using big words
he is secretive about everything
he lies to his brother in front of me
he lies to me, though he doesn't know I know!
he picks his nose and farts in public and doesn't care
he has lots of big plans, but never does any of them
he talks loudly and cuts people off without letting them finish
he is very charismatic
he doesn't appear to have a job
he bodybuilds and is almost fanatical about diet
he doesn't say thank you
he forgets all the things you have done for him, like buying dinner

Who was the author that said that people are sheep, that if they are under influence of mass they do like the other, like the mass, like the other group and they don't think on their own?
Thanks!

Say, you're from a small village in a developing country. You've got a degree and whatnot and you have a small job, with insufficient pay. You have a cousin who lives in a world-class city, and she doesn't approve of the way you make a living and is constantly criticizing you. BUT, you secretely like it and you think she's attractive. Would you tell her or would you make hints, seeing that there is no way you're ever going to be with her?

What is a promise means to you. And will you be very easy to say it? Do you prefer to remember that you've promised something, or does it means nothing?

I was diagosed bi-polar and have been on lithium and lamictal for years. I recently (12 days ago) stopped taking both of them. I've been feeling a little bit depressed, but altogether not that bad. Is there anyone out there who has been on these drugs and stopped taking them? Any advice?

I asked this same question some time ago but the reason I'm asking it again is that I think I found the answer, or at least part of it.

My friend suggested that I might feel as though I could help them sort it out - like a misguided sort of care. I didn't say anything at first but after some consideration I realised he might be right. I think I have had those sort of feelings when dealing with these women - like I can see they've got emotional problems but I feel like I can help them.

The usual result, however, is that I end up being part of their problem and the very thing that motivated me - my sense of concern for them - constitutes the hold they have over me and becomes a tool of their manipulation.

I don't know why I engage in this behaviour. It's quite possible that I will no longer do so now I see it more clearly.

I would still be very interested to hear what you guys have to say as this has been a major issue in my life.

I feel like I don't have the right to do anything or be anything or achieve anything or be happy or experience pleasure or enjoy life. And its all because of the religious teachings that I was exposed to in Catholicism. I gave it up but I still feel guilty just for existing. I am not a murderer or rapist or anything horrible. It's just been drilled into me, all this unearned guilt from religion and I can't shake it off. I'm always holding myself back from doing things and sabotaging my own success, I started doing bad in school so I woouldn't be "sinful" and I intentionally didn't try hard in track and field because I don't feel like I have the right to exist since I'm supposedly so "sinful" and I'm suppposed to deny myself or else I'll go to hell. I'm not doing this in order to explain away inadequacies either. How do I get over these thoughts? Life is terrible and I see no point in going on existing if its going to be a joyless existence.

I had a dream that i had a 12 year old son and we decided to race each other in an olympic sized pool. We dove in at opp sides (width wise), but when i dove in i dove in deep and realized the pool was something like 70 feet deep. When i reached the bottom I realized everything was getting darker. I decided to keep swimming ot the other side so I could eventually surface but I calculated wrong and I was beginning to feel like I had no air left at all. I looked up to see if I could see my son but he wasn't in the pool any longer. Instead was a Cretaceous sized Shark swimming at the surface. I tried to surface at the moment iwih extreme fear and panic/desperation in my body, but after rising 10 ft my lungs gave out and I drowned. It was so disturbing it woke me up immediately and i was gasping for breath with my heart beating extremely fast. I just got out of a relationhsip with a boyfriend i'm still in love with and I was with him for over a year.

Ok, I realize there are people who are Catholic. I am not Catholic, but I do not go around hunting for Catholics and giving them a hard time. I only do that defensively, so its not hunting. Observe a dramatization:
Jack: I love Jesus! He's my savior! He's the king of kings!
Tom: Rejoice! Jesus is the way!
Susan: Jesus is awsome! Jesus is my best friend! Rejoice!
Tom: Praise Jesus! Amen!
Jack: Jesus, you are my light! Oh heavenly Jesus!
Susan: Show me the way to your kingdom!
Tom: Sing his praises! Lift me up, higher and higher!
Jack: Almighty Jesus, you are the one!
Tom: Who is not afraid to say Jesus is truly the divine savior?
Susan: I'm not! I love Jesus with all my heart!
Jack: Jesus is my savior!

This is not as exagerrated as it may seem. They go on like this and then they look for someone who's not as openly fanatical and maniacal about god and they condemn them to hell. Seriously, why are they so insistent on condemning and letting you know about their faith?
