I was diagosed bi-polar and have been on lithium and lamictal for years. I recently (12 days ago) stopped taking both of them. I've been feeling a little bit depressed, but altogether not that bad. Is there anyone out there who has been on these drugs and stopped taking them? Any advice?

Yes. I cannot stress to you strongly enough to get back on them.
ASAP. I know you may feel better, some of the side effects are gone, but this is the calm before the storm.

Talk to your psychiatrist or family doctor. Do whatever it takes, but get back on the meds. This comes from experiences of a family member.

I have been on lithium for about 12 months , I have about 3 times just stopped taking this. After a couple of days I started feeling very depressed and I can not really explain it, but I felt there were coachroaches in my brain. I did not feel good.
I have learnt not to go off them completely, they can be very dangerous doing this. Be careful please. Keep seeking medical advice .

i have a brother that is bipolar, one time he got off the lithium and ended up in a hospital then a mental institution. he has been back on it now for sometime but does not like it. he says it causes alot of stomach trouble. best thing to do is find a good doctor that can work with other meds until you find something that works for you. goodluck to you..

you may not be expanding your dosage of something devoid of conversing on your well being care expert. quite Lamictal. it may reason an extremely extreme irreversible rash & it extremely is a drugs that desires to be began off very slowly because of this. for this reason it is going to take allot longer to kick in. It took me around 9 months to stand as much as a dose of 225 mgs according to day & to be honest, it did not look to assist me any (notwithstanding it did gain making my hair fall out). provide it greater time or ask to be switched to a diverse temper stabilizer.

At least go back on the Lamictal. Suddenly stopping this medication can give you seizures.

you might consult your doctor before you kick!!

there is no reason to quit the lamictil cuz the side effects are minimal..

as for the lithium, i know why you quit that, BUT, you should ask your doctor for "abilify".. it is also a mood stabilizer like lithium but not so many side effects.. in fact, after being on lithium, youll hardly notice the abilify..
